Truthfully it was a crap shoot for me. I was going to have a custom cat back installed with a flowmaster 40 and twin pipes out the back. Then I took a ride in a Durango with that set up. Sounded great outside, the drone was unbearable. I did some research and decided on the Gibson. As the OP said it's hard to make a decision from sound clips online.

OP- When I install tomorrow I will do what I can to get you information that will best assist your decision.

Re: Gibson or Magnaflow exhaust

Its always hard making choices when you don't have the options in your hand, or at your ears! I wanted a smaller muffler for a lil more sound, and I just happen to get a great price on it. Can't wait to toss it on and hear her rumble!

Re: Gibson or Magnaflow exhaust

Will do big bone! Ill get some street sounds clips and some hill climb clips too! Gotta hear it from all areas, right?! haha

Main reason I went with the Mag was duh stainless for an off roader, but also straight through design, all stainless parts inside, and its shorter which will give me some more sound! Keeping the reso on for now as well.

Videos coming soon...

Re: Gibson or Magnaflow exhaust

Wow this thread took off all of a sudden. Thanks for all the input. I'm leaning towards the magnaflow, but I'm still a Lil torn. Seems like both are great choices, though. Don't think I could go wrong with either of them.

Re: Gibson or Magnaflow exhaust

Well what are you trying to accomplish. Obviously being in NY you would need a stainless. Both are stainless so you're good to go there. Are you doing a whole catback or just the muffler? Also, do you wheel your Jeep, or is she just "Mall" Rated? lol

Re: Gibson or Magnaflow exhaust

I'm confused, are you getting the full cat-back or just the muffler?

I have the stainless Gibson cat-black and love it for a daily driver. There is zero drone and the piping is 3". At times I wish it were a little louder but I'm glad it can be "quiet" too. I do want to get an exhaust cutout though lol
