Re: Glasspacks on a 5.7...

I guess mine are glasspacks. I switched out the pypes to magnaflows. The pypes were too loud in the cabin

Also get soem SRT8 manifolds, that'll make it louder as well

Re: Glasspacks on a 5.7...

555cts that's almost exactly what I'm aiming for. I have been on the lookout for some srt8 headers but no luck yet. Also my plan is to keep the Gibson resonator. If and when I do find headers I'll go to a dual exhaust.

So are you happy now with the sound? How is the drone and the sound when the cylinder deactivation kicks in?

Re: Glasspacks on a 5.7...

I have another question because I finally found a deal on srt8 stock headers. Will I need to also get the midpipes from an srt8 set up in order for it to bolt up to an srt cat back or do you think I can get away with some fab work with my 5.7 mid pipes to bolt up to an srt cat back.

I have that turned off. MDS, secondary O2, EGR are all of on my setup The in cabin drone is still pretty bad, but i had intended to bring the pipes out the side of the rocker moldings. With the tips still ending under the truck its pretty loud, i think once i get the tips out from under the truck it will quiet down a bit

I used this female ball connector to mate up to the SRT8 manifolds. Although i did cut off that diamond shaped part from the midpipes to slip over the ball collector. Point is, a little fab work and it shouldnt be too hard

Your truck sounds awesome!!

555CTSV Do you have any tips to make the install of the headers easier or anything else I am going to need to do besides shave the tranny housing down a bit?

I kno I will need the 6.1L header bolts, I am thinking about going with the 5.7L gaskets and making the notch in the header to keep the EGR...

I decided to get a pair of srt8 mid pipes because on the lx forums guys were saying its the easier route to go. I will keep everyone up to date on the trials and tribulations.
