Headers

I want to do a set of SRT8 headers on my 2008 5.7 Ltd. I'm told that there might be a problem with them fitting. They fit the 09-10 but not so sure about the 05-08. Can anyone shed some light?

When I had my 5.7 it was a 2005 and I put them on. The port shapes are different but they will fit. Search the forum there is a bunch of guys that have done the swap and a wealth of knowledge already posted.

Re: Headers

Are those aftermarket headers you refer to, or SRT stock exhaust manifolds ?

Re: Headers

I had mine custom built but used SRT8 gaskets to make the flanges to the block. The SRT8 headers will fit but you'll have to make a decision wether to cut a hole to keep EGR function or lose it. I chose to keep mine blocked off. You will absolutely have to either get a tuning shop to turn it off or a new tune altogether. I'm waiting on my tune before I run off and get my exhaust finished (I'm cutting the cats off). Btw, unlike I originally thought, hand held tuners by law cannot shut off the EGR codes, like I said above a tuner dealer of some sort can do it for you. Just make sure legal in your state. It's not really in mine but they don't have inspections.

I hope that helps.

Re: Headers

I have SRT8 manifolds on my 2006 5.7. The ports are different shape but they work. I useds the 2009-2010 exhaust manifold gaskets, since they are D-shaped-- fit the SRT8 manifolds... BUT also have the EGR port. Make sure you make a notch in the passenger side manifold and your good to go.

And you also have to trim part of the transmission off, but its not that bad.... aluminum and cuts easy.

No shaving of my tranny case. They did have to drop the sub frame though, which will required an alignment.
