If Stu or whoever at Inertia is tuning your setup, just have them turn EGR off...deal with it at emissions time.

In SCT/CMR there's a table called "EGR Mass Desired"- I think lowering the numbers in there would also get rid of your problem while maintaining EGR for emissions. I honestly never have messed with it, I usually turn that stuff off and 0 the mass if theres positive numbers there.

Are you going to keep MDS????

Re: Heads, Cam, Exhaust

I'm not so sure MDS really works to benefit these heavy trucks. Maybe in an LX where the aero might be better, but I would think a well tuned "MDS Off" truck could see the same mileage as with MDS without the unpleasant sounds of 4 cyls.

Re: Heads, Cam, Exhaust

MDS with the cams I used really works good on both my Hemi's. It's on almost all the time now, even on modest hills. I just got back from my first trip (~2000 miles) with my FRI Sidewinder cammed (6 degree advanced) Hemi LX. I got between 450-514 miles per tank (except at 6000-7000 ft. with high headwinds) and I estimate ~85-90% MDS on time, even at atltitude. Most of this (~75%) was at altitudes of ~3000-5000 ft. elevation. My WK doesn't do quite as well though, and weight (about 500 lbs. more) is one of the factors, along with aerodynamics (.36 drag coefficient for the LX, and .39 for the WK), parasitic drivetrain loss, and only 2 degrees advance on the cam. Now that I have the transmission pretty much set up the way I want, I'd like to do the same trip with it to see how it does. For me, the only way I'd lose the MDS is if I were building a race motor. MDS on mine usually makes ~2-3 mpg difference and the exhaust I have on both make the MDS on hardly noticeable. Any loud exhaust system would definitely be annoying with the 4 cylinder drone.
