Re: Help!

I'd just ditch the billet piece all together... Not like you're really gonna see it. Did you not look at the old thermostat housing when you pulled it off? There is no other fitting on the housing. I would just buy a plug and close it up.

Re: Help!

Black billet is not going to stand out anyway. Polished billet might.

Re: Help!

I did not even look at it before I bought it..I confused the two things. I don't want to plug it if I can buy a cooler...anyone know if one is made...I also an not going to not use a part I paid for do I need to figure this out...plugging It is the last option. Why will a pressure valve not work?

Re: Help!

You do know that there will be coolant running out of your thermostat for your miscellaneous cooler right? What you're looking to do makes no sense. You want to use hot coolant to cool oil? How are you going to seperate the two? Like a radiator/trans temp heat exchanger? You already use a sufficient trans cooler as well as a power steering cooler. You could add a remote oil temp cooler that would be air cooled, not coolant cooled.. I would again, ditch the bullet piece and use the stock thermostat neck.

Tosh is right, you'll have coolant coming out of your water neck, so I'm assuming you want a heat exchanger, they're great (I needed one on my STI rev B Spec-C clone), but this will be more work than you think. You'll need two oil lines - in/out, a cooant line to the heat exchanger, then you'll need a coolant line out of the other side of the heat exchanger - this is the tricky part, you need to route that hot coolant back into your cooling system. To do this, you'll either need to tap into the return side of your radiator (I don't remember if the WK radiator has plastic tanks, if it does, you'll need a new radiator), there may be another way, but I'm not sure of a safer way. If you don't return the hot coolant, your oil will actually be surrounded by hot coolant. You could always run an air/oil cooler, which would eliminate the coolant issue, but you would have to plug your water neck.

Have you called shophemi.com, the place where you linked your water neck from? Maybe they have a solution I am unaware - it never hurts to call and ask a pro...especially if you are asking about one of their products.

Good luck!
Kevin
