Re: Help!!! Hydrolocked

Yeah man, Id take my $9600 check over to someone else besides the dealer! For that # you could get into something much more fun but also may cost you a tad out of pocket if thats within your scope

Your gonna want a Gen 3 Hemi - some cool links

http://bouchillonperformance.com/MPCrateEngines.asp

http://www.shophemi.com/c-23-new-hemi-engines.aspx

There are PLENTY of other companies selling short and long blocks but again you are gonna need someone local for all the install/tuning etc. Most motor will come with nice warranty but I wouldn't expect anything else on the truck to ever be covered under warranty

Also will need to look into some driveline stuff and Im not sure about the RFE and what kinda torque it can handle? I know the NAG is solid with some TCM tuning adjustments but the RFE I do not know much about. The front/rear diffs should be no issue, although not ideally geared for a bigger motor. Only worry would really be the tcase/trans over time needing a rebuild but again lot of variables with that.

Best bet is just say screw everything I just said and put the stock motor back in haha - Thats something you know will work and wont cost you a dime, GL either way

Re: Help!!! Hydrolocked

Definitely take it to a shop with that money and get a better engine put in it.

That's usually not how it works, It's not like they just hand him $9600...

Re: Help!!! Hydrolocked

yeah the $9600 includes the labor too. I need to do it through jeep so i can still have my warranty but idc at this point just thank god its not completely screwed i can do the other work on it myself lol i was stressing about it the last week. as soon as she gets out shes getting some mud flaps and a CAI... any brand in particular i should go with for the intake? and don't say go with a snorkel i learned my lesson to stay away from water hahahaha.

Well assuming he owns the truck then normally they will just cut him the $9600 check in which case he can do whatever the heck he wants. BUT if there is a lender involved then normally you will have to fix the truck BUT that does not mean you have to replace the parts with the exact same parts. Thats variable per insurance company and each policy contract but most do not have a clause that says that to my knowledge. I know of many people who replaced damaged parts with upgraded or aftermarket stuff different from OEM with insurance $

Very rarely the company may cut the check to the shop directly (if they have a program or some trusted shops policy) and you sign off on the shop to do the work. This case you'd have to plead with the shop/insurance to allow you do do what you want and not have the replace the parts directly but in these cases its often an uphill battle and you are SOL.

Hopefully you have the title for this Jeep and you'll collect the check and are free to go from there
