Re: HEMI Headers - Are they worth it?

Some longtubes req. Cutting the trans cuz they are really 6.1 srt headers with 5.7 flanges. Srt mani' s bolt up to the head, but need to be fitted to the midpipes, or you can use srt mids IIRC

Re: HEMI Headers - Are they worth it?

Can a camshaft for a HEMI fit my 4.7 V8? Same question for the headers.

Re: HEMI Headers - Are they worth it?

I have never had one , but I believe the 4.7 has overhead cams, so no,the cam wouldn't fit. The hemi has pretty big heads, so i doubt that the headers would fit either.

I miss it in the bad weather, we've had more rain in the past 2 or 3 weeks then we've had I think the whole rest of the year. ............and I do miss the way it sounds when it starts it up.

Re: HEMI Headers - Are they worth it?

Has anybody tried buying the charger or 300C headers and having them adjusted to fit our jeeps?

Re: HEMI Headers - Are they worth it?

When I had the custom ones built for my WK, the builder considered doing just that but, after seeing the tight quarters under the hood, he decided to build them from scratch. I've since looked at the LXer's (I have JBA's on mine) and believe (Now I haven't tried this, but I own both a Hemi LX and a Hemi WK so can see the differences.) that they will work with a minimum of reworking. If I had another WK, I'd love to try it.

I think all you have to do (get uncoated headers) is cut them off near the flanges (I'd leave ~3/8 in. of the tubes on the flanges), and then cut about 1/2-5/8 in. off the tubes before the bends and finally, weld them back together. You'd have to modify the "Y" pipe at the headers, because they are clocked differently and the LX collectors are quite a bit larger (2 5/8 in.) than the stock 5.7 WK (1 7/8 in.) log collectors. One other thing, that really isn't an issue is the upstream O2 Sensors are bunged into the header on the LXer's, and they're on the "Y" pipe on the WK's. See the differences here: A better exhaust system for the 5.7 WK?? I'd leave them in the stock position and plug the ones in the headers, or hook up some wide band O2's. Would be a fun experiment to try.

Re: HEMI Headers - Are they worth it?

I looked into as well before just buying ones made for the 6.1 instead. For the comparisons I could see was that they hung down a lot lower than the WK ones and was also worried if they were made to clear the front drive shaft as well, the LX's don't have that to worry about that.

I know this is a dead.... beyond dead post, but....
Would these fit my 05 grand Cherokee Hemi?

Mines going in for the broken manifold bolts and gaskets with possibly machining the OEMs flat. But would rather upgrade while they're in there...

Re: HEMI Headers - Are they worth it?

Since they're off a Jeep, my guess is that they would. The ports are a different shape, but the bolt patterns are the same. Many guys have put the SRT tube type headers on their 05-08's. For that price, I'd jump on it because, if for no other reason, they're way more efficient than the stock 05 Hemi logs. About the only issue I could see with these is hooking the mids. to them. You'd have to get either SRT mids. or find some of the flared flanges somewhere. Still wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I've had custom headers with a top notch straight through 3 in. cat. back (see signature) on my 06 for a little over 8 years now and, between it and the aftermarket camshaft, I've picked up around 75-80 hp. Allow it to breathe more freely and it'll come to life, big time.

THANK YOU for the quick response.
The next question becomes, would the stock gaskets work with these? I have the Percy 4 layer gaskets ordered that fit the stock manifolds.

Also, would there be any issues with the EGR? Or need any transmission housing grinding needing done?
I ask because as competent as I think this exhaust shop is, I don't know how far they'd be willing to go to make Non OEMs fit.

Would the SRT8s flanges just then need to be welded up to the ypipe I take it?
