How do you know if you've been hit with the N23 recall bug?

How do you know if you've been hit with the N23 recall bug?

Does a message have to appear while driving saying to service your 4WD?

Or when you put it to gear 2-3- or 4 and it does not seem to work?

thanks

Not a WK specialist, but as far as i know you will loose 4Lo. So as soon as you select 4Lo it will not engage and the service 4 wheel drive msg will appear.

Just a question, because I've never seen the 4LO option, maybe it's another type of transmission? Or do you mean when you slap the transmission stick sideways and it goes to gear 4, 3, 2...from OD Overdrive?

No if you have QT2 or QD2 and go to put it in 4lo(t handle to the right). Using auto stick won't affect it. If you have QT1 it does not apply. So when you go to put in 4lo you will get service 4 wheel drive message.

I'm on my phone now I can't tell what kind of jeep you have. Do you have QT1 or QT2/QD2?

Yes its probably QT2. Should say qaudra track all below the shifter. If that's not there if rear axle has 10 bolts=QT2 12 bolts= QD2. If you had the n23 flash when you pull 4lo lever to the right of shifter you should get service 4 wheel drive code. If you don't know if its been done there is a website you can go to put in your vin # and it will tell you. I'm forgot the name of the site maybe someone can chime in. I never had the flash done and won't until I see guys getting there 4lo back and keeping it. Hope this helps.

Ok I see that pos now, yeah, that thing, I never want to lift it, it has a jagged edge and feels like shit. Anyhow, the message came on to service it, so I'll wait for the next recall to fix some other crap. Who has the diagrams and shit, Mercedes Benz? Tell them to hurry up with a fix! I never use it anyhow. When I'm driving on OD, overdrive, are my 4 wheels rolling and pulling?

Re: How do you know if you've been hit with the N23 recall bug?

Would you sell this jeep if you had just changed all the 5-6 different fluids 1-2 years ago, new shocks, and some others....

I'm thinking of getting a plain old 2014 jeep Cherokee instead....Not sure....This is a nice model and if it can last 3-4 years without repairs...I'd get a 2017 Cherokee afterwards

Re: How do you know if you've been hit with the N23 recall bug?

Just to make things clear, putting it in 4Lo doesn´t do anything with the transmission, but it will do with the Transfer case. In 4Lo it connects the front wheels directly to the transmission output and it will reduce the ouput rotation. So this mode is made for terrain, mud etc.

Cool, just one silly question though, when I'm driving now regularly, are my 4 wheels spinning?
