After seeing Rob's dual aeroforce gauges in the sun glass holder pod, I wanted it, but they were way outta my price range at the time. Iv been looking for an OBD2 scanner for a while now, and just happened to come upon one of our members selling what I wanted! Dual interceptors and the sunglass pod. BOUGHT!
They came in today, got right to work, the install was pretty strait forward, the hardest part was getting the pod in since I had no instructions, I pulled down the overhead console...
Once it was down I had to look over the console to figure out what to do next cause of the lack of directions, I started off by pulling off the swing down door that holds the glasses. Then I looked at the top and saw 4 plastic rivets that seemed to be holding on the "roof" of the sunglass holder. I popped the rivets off and guess what!? I had the access I needed!
So next up on the list was getting screws that would work, since again, all I had was the pod, no hardware or instructions, I took the pod up to the local hardware store and got two different types of screws to make sure at least one would work. Grand total? 35 cents!
Got back and test fitted the pod, perfect, leveled it out and held it up to the ceiling a few times and all was well, so I screwed it into the overhead console and got to mounting the two gauges. Again, easy as hell, each has a metal bracket that fits over two studs on the gauge itself, then two thumb nuts and they are in!
I made a small hole in the black plastic housing that the console fits in to run the wires, then used a clothes hanger to fish the wires from the gap at the top of the windshield into the opening for the console. Hooked up the gauges and remounted the console. Then simply ran the wire down the a pillar and into the OBD2 port. DONE! Spent the next hour playing the the parameters for what I wanted displayed, still messing with that, but right now the first pod shows RPM on top and Horse Power on bottom. The second pod shows Coolant Temp and Tranny Temp. I also programmed the red LED's on each gauge, the first pod lights up at 2,500 RPM, the second gauge at 3,500 RPM. So when im using the auto stick iv got a silent reminder of where im at.
Must say I LOVE these things, and the mounting location is awesome, not some super flashy A pillar pod, but still looks great and is easy to see. FINISHED PICS!
(Note: In this pic its showing RPM and HP on the first gauge, and INTAKE AIR TEMP and COOLANT TEMP on the second)
So at the end of the day iv got my OBD2 scanner, and then some, these things can even let you change the diameter of your tires to correct the speedo, turn ESP completely off, change the idle RPM's, and even look at and clear DTC codes. Im gonna make you guys a video asap once I can get a quality one. They are awesome, im in the love, the end
