thats the response from most people but, I don't think it is very logical. not everyone has the funds or the means to do such things.

Look at it this way, your gonna spend how much on preformance mods and upgrades to make it feel faster, when you can prob trade it in on a bigger engine for that difference in monthly payments. Jmho though

while i was car shopping last month, i believe the 4.7 with decent mileage was all over 25k. i bought my car for under 19k. i have done all my mods so far for under 1500. that leaves me 4500. thats a alot of money. the difference in a 4.7 versus all the things i have put in my car so far may be noticeable but i am coming from an e46 m3 which is much faster than a 4.7. i really dont care for speed. i don't want tickets. there is no room to go fast, legal and, safe on the roads here. i have much more use for the 4500 and the lower monthly payments tyvm.

I am in the same boat. I got my 2010 3.7L as a certified pre-owned for a very good price. Since I drive about 30K miles a year for work, my depreciation is going to be bigger than the average 2010 WK, so cost was a big factor when making my decision.

I am not expecting to make this thing fast by any means. But like all of you here, I enjoy modding my cars. So if by tweaking a few things gives me a slight boost in power and better fuel mileage, I am all for it.

Moving on.....

I have just changed to the Airaid intake that you have. I absolutely LOVE it. I had the K&N kit previously, and I can see a difference in the Airaid setup. I think using the lower half of the stock box like in the Airaid is smarter......it insulates better from engine heat and also utilizes the tube that brings in fresh air from the grill. And removing the air resonator not only reduces restriction, but gives the engine a really impressive intake sound, especially between 2-4K rpms. The truck seems to pull a little harder as well and mpg has gone up a bit.

I also noticed the poor fitment of the reducer that Airaid supplied in the kit. I purchased a new silicone reducer instead and now it fits perfect.

I contacted Hypertech regarding their programmer......I am DEFINITELY going to be buying this very soon. Autoanything has it for $339 shipped. It looks legit.

No one will ever convince me that such gains can be obtained from simple programming.

The WK1 srt8 with the predator and that guy that does custom tunes can eaisly get that. Although I also don't believe that some "chip" does it. It takes good hardware and an experienced tuner

Re: Is the Jetchip a complete waste?

I personally had a stage 2 JET. WELL worth the $. I got mine for around $220 on autoanything.com.

I noticed increased throttle response, and my mpg went up. I recommend it ONLY if there are not hand held programmers available(SCT, Diablo, hypertech, etc)

If you dont mind me asking where did you get your silicone reducer that fit well?

I too am a little less than convinced that Hypertech got that much just on 87 octane alone. 25 CRANK HP, on premium, might be possible, but it just sounds a little hard to believe.

That being said, the factory calibrations are VERY mild and leave alot on the table. Especially if you have modifications. I personally have datalogged vehicles with stock tunes - with modifications no less, that were almost 11:1 at upper rpms. Being that rich is killing power, and wasting fuel. You can add quite a bit of timing advance if you are willing to fill up with premium, or E85 if your PCM is ethanol aware.
