Is the Jetchip a complete waste?

I have a 2010 WK 3.7L and unfortunately there is nothing really available as far as computer programming/tuning. The SCT only works on 05-06 3.7's.

I saw that Jetchip has a stage 1 and stage 2 chip for the 3.7L. I have heard these may improve performance only temporarily if any at all. Anyone have any experience with them??

Is there something available that I am missing? Any vendors that might do custom tunes for a 2010??

Re: Is the Jetchip a complete waste?

I was running one on my '06 4.7l. It was a good improvement over stock. Power and MPG improved. I pulled it for a Superchips Flashpaq when I changed tire size. If I had stock tires again I would not hesitate to use the Jet chip. I still have the Stage 1 floating around my basement.

Are you speaking from experience or just echoing things youve read about it?

There is actually several people here that have used or currently use them. I do not have any experience with it but I know Mario went from a 15.2 to a 14.6 with the help of a Stage 2 Jet Chip.

Since it doesnt sound like Superchips is going to offer support anytime soon, nor SCT, the Jet Chip might be worth a try.

Looks like Hypertech just released a programmer for the 3.7.

Re: Is the Jetchip a complete waste?

i have personal experience with the JET. i have had my jeep for a little over a month now. i think i went a bit crazy with the mods in the period of time but seeing how this car is slow, i couldnt help myself. I have an 09 WK so i am experiencing the same thing you are.

My first mod was the Airaid intake. i think the part number is 310-205 or something like that. it says it is for the 2005-2007 but you can make it work for the 08-10 models as well. the reducer piece that comes with airaid is big on the end that goes into the throttle body. if you reuse the plastic piece on the backside of your resonator when you take it out, you can make it work like i did.

For exhaust, you can basically get whatever muffler you want and that should help with sound/restriction. I noticed SOME changes when i got the intake but after the exhaust, i dont think i noticed much of a difference from when the intake was on. the car was much louder. great sound from the outside, but i am a person that hates drone. anyway, i am semi satisfied with the flowmaster 50 series HD that i got.

For throttle body, I decided to go with the FlyingRyan. I am still waiting to hear back from Ryan on this but i hope i get it soon and i hope it gives me noticeable gains.

As for tuning, i tried contacting Hemifever for the SCT tune and got the same answer you did. He pointed me to Diablo sport who tunes dodge but they didnt have anything as well. My last resort was JET. I did not want to waste my money on stage 1 so i opted to wait until all these other mods were done before I got my hands on stage 2. pricing wise, it is a bit pricey. with shipping it runs you near $350. The jet chip is just a small adapter that hooks onto your ECU or whatever that silver thing is on the passenger side under the hood. takes like 5 minutes to install. there is no controller like in some of the videos they have where you get to tune it. just plug and play. car sounded/acted normal after the install. couldnt even tell i had the chip in. right when i stepped on the gas, HUGE difference. smoother throttle, shifts, more responsive. overall, the car was faster. with all the tunes so far on my car, the Jet stage 2 hands down is the best mod. right now i am still running on the remaining 87 octane gas in my car. stage 2 recommends running at least 91 octance. i hope its even better when i get my next tank of gas. I don't see why so many people bash Jet and i dont see why most of them that comments dont even run one for the 08-10 models. this is the best option for 08-10 and i HIGHLY recommend it. i hope that helps .

Dammit.... +25Hp +25 ft-lbs, but only for 2007-2010.

Once again, I get left out and regret buying my 2006.

Re: Is the Jetchip a complete waste?

It looks like the increases for Jet is around +15 Hp at 5000 RPM. I dont know if thats the same for stage 1 and 2. Honestly, can you really tell 10hp? if you really want to go fast, just take out your spare tire, remove the seats, get smaller tires.

Or trade it in for a 4.7 or hemi, the mpg's are almost the same cause that little V6 has a hard time pulling all that weight

Re: Is the Jetchip a complete waste?

Truckguys here in Weymouth, MA offers the Max Energy Programmer by Hypertech for $379 local. Jetchip stage 1 is $320 and $330 for stage 2 without shipping. Dyno vids on Hypertech website shows a Jeep Liberty 3.7 L with regular octane gas with gains of +25 hp @5800rpm and +25 tq @4900 rpm. Unfortunately, Jetchip doesn't show much so I have no idea what my gains are.
