I tried the seafoam a few months ago. Left it in for about 50 miles then changed the oil to Amsoil. No change in ticking.

Both with about the same mods.

Bottom line is 4.7 wins......... Odd

Seemed like a bad launch but they actually both take off at the same time.
Comparing the wj to the wk is like comparing the srt8 challenger to the srt8 grand because they have the same motor... Very different vehicles. Wk to wk 1 gen 4.7 to 1 gen 5.7 and 2 gen 4.7 to a 2 gen 5.7 there is no comparison. The hemi is faster.

Well, the question was not, was the First gen faster than the second. It was, "is the 4.7 faster than the 5.7?"

Your analogy is a bit off. And shouldn't the WK's Hemi be of more advanced technology than the WJ? IE Faster??

And it was just a simple suggestion video to give an idea of a comparison. Both Grand Cherokee's and with the motors in question. And a very general question at that. Which I gave a general video suggestion for.

If you can supply a video for the exact comparison for this question, have at it.

seafoam is not the same as an engine oil flush . You can leave it in as long as you want as long as your engine isn't filthy. it will clean out the gunk over time and - heres what your after- free up the lifters. The MDS lifters get crudded up ,making the noise.

Exactly....THe MDS lifters get sticky after a while, the source of the Hemi ticking, which also effects throttle response at any speed, and MDS operation. If your hemi is ticking, it is not running as well as it should be, and once resolved, you will be very pleased with the difference.
There is no ticking at all in mine, and throttle response is great; better than new... the MM ported TB also helps with that department

Well this is the wk forum, not the general engine performance forum

And again I say this is the wk section. furthermore, if you just want to compare engines then the numbers speak for themselves. Otherwise the hemi was never offered in the wj so the only fair comparison would be wk to wk.

+1

That is why I placed all of the threads into the WK side.

I was due for an oil change anyways. I switched from conventional oil to amsoil hoping it would help. It is only on the drivers side. There is no exhaust leak. MDS works great. I did notice when I am under wide open throttle the truck surges slightly. Maybe I will try the seafoam again.

As for the topic of this thread. There is no advantage to having a 4.7 over a 5.7. You get more power with the 5.7 and there is only a 1 mpg difference. I get about 22mpg on the highway cruising around 65mph.
