Re: Lets see your duals!

Itll only burn the passengers in the back seats No i still havent really found any tips for it that i like. The originals were too big and bulky. I've been looking at thru hull tips from wave runners as they seem to be the right size, just have pulled the trigger on anything yet. In reality i've been thinking of just going back to stock side skirts and leaving it with the turndowns. I did the cam swap long ago and the aesthetics of the exhaust just keeps going to the back burner

Re: Lets see your duals!

Yea that would be sick, I do like how you went about modding the skirts but I think if you went the stock route and then did the mustang tips it would look SICK

Re: Lets see your duals!

i just had duels installed on my 06 wk 4.7l and it sounds awesome. had to loose my spare tire though. do you think 4" tips are to wide or maybe the 3 1/2 would look better?

I wnt a spare and NO CUTTING of the chassis.
It does look good, but I wasn't comfortable cutting anything on my Jeep (those rear rails are important crash protection) , so made a harder job of it and managed to retain them.

Those rear "rails" aren't really sturdy enough to be considered true "sliders" for off road purposes. The mounting bracketry is quite weak by design.
They are really there to transfer serious crash loadings from the bumper area into the rear diff assembly, where the energy can be more readily distributed.
Without them, I think even a fairly mild rear impact would write-off the vehicle.... something an insurance company might not be particularly pleased about.

Re: Lets see your duals!

I finally got it out on the HWY today about a 50 mile trip. from the drivers seat it is just a slight rumble/burble at 77-80 you can hear it if you feather the throttle, but plenty civil enough to talk, think etc..
On the way back I let my GF drive.......for some reason its louder from the passenger seat!?!? still not too loud, but noticably different. I had the muffler clamped, not welded,as to ease any need to remove it,so maybe i need to tighten them, but it doesnt sound like there's a leak .........weird

PS -NO drone FTW!!

My 3 inch cat back magnaflow is the same way, a bit louder in the passanger seat, and a lot louder in the back, since the muffler is on the right side under the rear seats

Re: Lets see your duals!

From my experience, i've went through 3 different exhaust set ups, everything is louder in the passenger seat for some reason.

And a new notice for anyone wanting to upgrade to SRT8 manifolds... Use caution when rerouting your starter cable. I just spent the day replacing my cable and using a DEI heat shielding sleeve to protect it. Heat melted through my positive cable and let the sparks fly! No other damage from what i can tell so far, seems to be running fine now

Did you have and power or econmy drop not having the balance tube? How is the drone and is the MDS more noticeable?

Cheers

Re: Lets see your duals!

Not dual pipes but dual tips. Ive had this setup for 30k plus miles. in that time only 2 people have burned them self on them. I also dont regularly have passengers in the back besides my son who is only 11 months old. I do however have plans to change it as soon as funds are available so when my son starts walking there is no chance of a burn.
