I run Amsoil oil and a napa gold filter. The oil I change every 15k, and the filter ever 5k. I have never used an extended life filter, but i might start since napa recently started advertising them. This setup has been good to me for 98K so far in my 4.7L.

Wait? Can I even change the oil filter w/o draining the oil or will it just pourn out the filter mount?

I have been running Amsoil and Amsoil Filter 15,000mi about $75-85 a change.

Dude, if you don't have a garage www.oildrainvalve.net is the site you want to visit. I got one for the WJ and one for the WK. Makes it a lot easier and a lot less messy. I'm pretty sure the part number is F106N, but don't quote me on that.

Just checked, that is the part number for the V6 and V8 Jeeps, I wish I had found these a long time ago!

Now if only there was an easier way to get around the front skip plate to the oil filer....

I actually can't remember off hand what I do for the filter...what I do know is that I use the K&N filters so it's easy to get to with a ratchet, extension, and 1" socket. I know they make relocation kits, but with the K&N ones, it's easy enough. Still a little messy though, but not as bad as the oil drain, which is aiming directly at the exhaust.
