Ryan's tune? I know I can pick up a DS for around $200 used...but really I'm looking for the sound lol. Performance at this point is just going to be a bonus, I'm not going to be dragging my Jeep.

He is referring to me.

Theres plenty of people running DS or a CMR tune that will never see a drag strip. Theres a ton more that can be done than just "go faster".

Re: Modding my 5.7L

I guess you would just have to weigh your priorities. If you want sound (and I don't blame you my 5.7 sounds beast) then go with exhaust. If you want performance i would listen to Ryan, he never lead me wrong.

Well ideally I'll eventually do both, but right now I'm just a poor law student. I'm counting my pennies so that I can maybe eventually get mods done. I just don't want to do anything to decrease my mpg further than it is now (11-13 city). I only drive city, and in the winter (only season I drive the Jeep), it puts my wallet through a world of hurt even just driving back and forth to campus. Thankfully in the other seasons I ride my motorcycle and can put aside additional gas money for things like this...

Re: Modding my 5.7L

Instead of getting the SRT Airbox and stuff there's an Airaid Intake Tube for sale in the For Sale section. Buy that and then buy and exhaust. Get either a Borla or a Gibson (My Choice). Then buy a Diablo Sport Predator. And go from there. You can also get your TB Ported by Ryan. I don't drag my Jeep. I just love the power.

Tried to buy the Airaid intake tube, even put an offer on it, HEMI57 never responded so I gave up and went an alternate route. I got the SRT8 full airbox assembly (minus the snorkel) for $40 shipped, so it was a solid deal. As for the exhaust, do all of the cat-backs require welding or can they be bolted on? The DS will be the last step, as you've suggested. I just need to find a solid price on an exhaust system.

Re: Modding my 5.7L

All my Catbacks have bolted on including the Gibson. It's a real easy install, hardest part is removing the old one.

And sorry I never heard anything about the air raid tube.

Re: Modding my 5.7L

Or you can go with a MBRP Cat-Back.

Re: Modding my 5.7L

I only know of two members having an MBRP Exhaust. That's the next one I'm leaning to get.

Quite a few members on here have a Gibson Cat-Back Exhaust. I've heard all positive reviews on both.

The MBRP exhaust doesn't have a resonator which is why I'm a little concerned of since I do a lot of highway driving. It does sound good though.

The Gibson has a resonator so there is almost no drone when driving.

So the MBRP gets a drone on the highway? I'm not opposed to a little bit of drone, as I'm usually listening to loud music on the highway, but drone is annoying nonetheless.
