Re: Mods made a difference

Intake and exahust on a 5.7 are frankly a waste of money and just noise makers. I had a Magnaflow and CAI and went back to stock. It runs better than ever now, and you hear the sweet hemi revving instead of all that BS noise. The best bolt on mod for a Hemi is the MM 85mm ported TB. That made a heckuva difference in pickup at all rpm and improved mpg. I just drove 400 miles last week and averaged 20.7 mpg at 67 mph avg.

Re: Mods made a difference

Disagree. Maybe a waste of money in terms of investment for MPG's, but definitely not just noise makers. Hard pressed to find people who truly dislike the sound a good exhaust/intake system strapped to a big V8 these days. But there can be some overkill exhaust for sure. Flowmaster 40, strait pipes, I'm looking at you...

You put some in the oil, a few hundred miles before the oil is due to be changed.
And the final bit may require two people. When the engine is warm, you take the brake vac line off and feed in a little bit of SF as someone keeps the engine at 2K rpms. White smoke will come out for a bit then you let rest for about 20 minutes. Then you drive it hard!(legally) around for a bit usually until the smoke

After doing this mine ran amazing. I could instantly tell the difference in the idle and the smoothness of the engines performance. Mine didn't smoke very much but it definatly cleaned it out

Nothing to be scared of
Give it a shot!
I guess I wasn't totally familiar with the process. After I started following this thread the other day, it prompted me to do a bit more research (both on JG and the rest of the interwebs). What I found convinced me that I need to do this and I'll be buying some SeaFoam at my local Menards (it's only like $6.25 over there) before my next oil change (which unfortunately is like 4000mi off.

Re: Mods made a difference

I'm doing my oil change also. I'm going to buy some seafoam. But my Jeep is up for some service.

I'm going to Flush the Transmission, change the spark plugs, PCV Valve, and change the serpentine belt.
