What is the best muffler for the 5.7l Hemi, muffler only not a full cat back? I want a deep sound without drone and not obnoxiously loud. I am thinking I will keep the stock resonator. If your favorite isn't listed feel free to post it in a comment.

On mine, I ended up with a Magnaflow No. 14589 (3 in. in/out) on mine with an Xlerator XS1229 (3 in, in/out) in the resonator position. It's tame around town, and when you're on it, it roars.....also (finally) passes the wife test.

Hey Combat, did you ever get the Sheradon tranny put in yours? If so, how's it working?

My whole system is 3 in. straight through, and the stock reso. is not straight through and not 3 in. If you're using the stock tubing, unless you're planning to eventually go to a 3 in. system, get the muffler with that size in/out. The stock reso. won't make that much difference, and should still give a pretty good sound....just not quite as good as a straight through. It will kill the MDS drone a little better than mine though. The reason I say this is because on my Hemi LX (with duals) I run a stock Daytona Charger "suitcase" muffler (straight through 2 1/4 in.) with the stock resonators. I also have cutouts just before the reso's and there is very little difference in 1/4 mile times whether they're open or closed. IMO, it dosen't sound near as good as the WK setup though, as it's quite a bit quieter. I'll probably go with Magnaflows when the Charger setup wears out. I'll probably also hunt for some good straight through reso's too.

you could, but run it out the back so it would not be too loud inside. or you can get rid of the stock muffler and keep the reso in place

I have had both the flowmaster and the magnaflo they both have a nice sound but the magnaflo has a gurgle @ 2500 rpm's so I went back to the flowmaster it has a nice deep clear sound but a little on the loud side that was my first choice I changed it cause my lady was complaining about the deepness of it I went to the magnaflo which is quieter but I missed the deepness of the flowmaster and being no money comes out her pocket for my upgrades I went back to the flowmaster and added a 3" inlet off the headed....sweet
