Aren't you supposed to put half the can in the tank and the other half slowly down the brake booster vacuum hose while the engine is idling?

Yes to clean the intake and cylinder heads. The tick, correct me if I'm wrong, is coming from the lifters. You add the seafoam to the oil to stop the noise. In theory...

You got it.
In the tank helps clean the fuel system- injectors mostly.
In the intake gets the combustion chambers and ports/valves cleaned up- also helped clean my intake manifold (depends on where you introduce it)
In the oil helps get rid of sludge and varnish to keep things moving freely

My tick did end up popping up from time to time, but the seafoam reduced it a bunch.
Again ,if your engine isn't too dirty inside the seafoam wont hurt if you leave it in.
I no longer have my WK, but I still ALWAYS have seafoam in my XJ (now those are some noisy lifters!!)
