Neeedz moar horsepowerz

So let me start off by saying my jeep is not an srt, it is lifted on 305/55/20s, it is not a race car...however that des not stop me from driving it like one. Right now i have the 5.7 with a stock intake, custom catback, and superchip tuner at 87 octane. Quite simply...I want to run a 6.5-7 second 0-60 and keep 120mph without falling on its face after 90mph trying to accelerate.

I could get an intake and up the gas to 91...however on 91 i didnt have any measurable 0-60 improvement and it was just costing me money. Intake will happen when i decide to do everything at once.

What are you guys doing to get more power out of your 5.7s?
-Supercharger...Too expensive for 100hp imho (unless im underestimating it)
-392ci Stroker...Might be in my future but I need supporting mods
-I'm thinking maybe a cam and some minor head work might get me to the 400awhp mark...am i hoping for a bit too much.

I also dont want to get over what the 545rfe can handle. I'm pretty new to the jeep game, truck game, v8 game, awd game...pretty much everything about this thing. My last vehicle was a 2009 Mini Cooper S 1.6L Turbo FWD 6MT and being that im only 20...thats pretty much the only thing of mine that ive heavily modified.

Re: Neeedz moar horsepowerz

hey man, Im kind of in the same boat. A couple cars ago...I had a pretty modded srt4 that would have its way with most v8s. I figured have 330hp in the jeep, it would perform a tad better. I still love it. I added the intake and the sound is unreal, but not much diff in the butt dyno. I may stop by the local exhaust shop and have them weld on a super44 and cut out the resonator. Also looking at the superchip programmer but am worried about the tranny. My wife and I recently had a son, so money isnt flowing right now.....nor has it ever, just worse now. Is the programmer worth 300 dollars? If I would do it again, I would say the intake was probably not worth the 250.

Re: Neeedz moar horsepowerz

im just quickly pulling this out of my ass so dont quote me but i would go tbs, intake, performance chip, exhaust...looking at about a 45ish hp gain and spending about 700.

i read your thing again so I am going to edit this...there are guys on here with these basic mods running 5.1 60secs however said you are lifted and running bigger tires you are going to be more like lower 6's i would assume. i see you already got a bit of an exhaust system so forget i mentioned that. i would go with a 4in bwoody cai, and get a custom tune from (i cant remember the guys name but its someone on here).

Re: Neeedz moar horsepowerz

Why are you trying to get good acceleration after 90mph on a lifted setup with those big of rims and tires?

Seems a big dangerous if you ask me...

I come from the tuner world...most of my friends drive fast cars. When we go places I like to keep up when they mess around. I didnt say it was 100% responsible, but if i wanted to always be responsible I' d buy a prius and call it a day

Re: Neeedz moar horsepowerz

I've been looking at this: http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product.php?p=145

I want to do it at the same time as my air suspension. I just don't know if it'll destroy the tranny. Anybody know if any members on this site have done a supercharger before on the 5.7?

Re: Neeedz moar horsepowerz

If I had the money and assuming you have a Gen 1 engine I would do K&N intake (the 63? model that removes the resinator), I would also get a tune, get some 4.7HO cams, a 08+ intake, and a dual exhaust (but you will have to remove or find a new spot for your spare. This should give you some noticable power.
