Re: New Comp Cam 260 after dyno results

Yea i had a custom tune after the CAI, Cam and custom exhaust just dosent seem right... Im still running the stock ''log'' exhaust manifolds but with the cam offering 31hp and 20 tq and the custom tune anded 20 more hp and 30 tq I really figuered that she would be putting more "ummpth" at the tires. I dont know what the est drive train loss would be in a QDII? but the custom shop said it should be pumping out about 382 hp at the crank and 429 ftlb tq... Agian just doesnt add up to me it got me and my buddies thinking that mabe they never installed the Comp cam and just gave it a custom tune.

I think you lose 20% or 25% through the drive train. If you think they didn't put your cam in.... Check your radiator and fan for signs of being uninstalled, they both have to come out for the cam to be pushed in. The fan has brass fittings that connect the power steering fluid, these would show tool signs if they removed them.

Re: New Comp Cam 260 after dyno results

Thanks man,Yea I have checked the oil filter and it is one that the custom shop installed but I have not checked the the brass fittings yet but i will when i get off today It's a real bummer that the comp cam 260 dosent idle choppy to know that the cam was installed or not...

Re: New Comp Cam 260 after dyno results

I think your cam in comparable to mine... And I don't have a choppy idle... To be honest... A air intake doesn't really do very much... And your exhaust is still restricted like all hell at the manifolds. If it was tuned properly they probably couldn't open up the fuel as much as you could because of your restricted exhaust system. Think of it this way, even though you are holding your intake and exhaust valves open longer, what difference does it make if they are breathing through a straw. A cheaper alternative to srt8 exhaust manifolds may be to go with the lx logs that have much more flow, and you will be the first person to try to install them... they may have frame rail clearance issues, they may not. As of right now, your baby jeep manifold logs are killing your high end horsepower. The stock heads are good for more flow, but those logs are not a performance part.

Re: New Comp Cam 260 after dyno results

Thanks for the response I was trying to get my hands on some used jeep srt 8 manifolds but I couldnt find any in two months berfore the cam install and the price for new oem manifolds are very expensive I didnt know if the CMR tune was done in 3rd gear were the jeep had the least amount of kick down power or what... Does anybody out there installed the LX manifolds and seen a performacne gain? Theres only a few exhaust shops were I live and all of them cost a pretty penny for headers installs. I think im kinda S.O.L right now...

Dan is 1000% right. A good complete header back exhaust is a must, and should be installed before or at the same time as the cam to get the full benefit of the cam. I had my header back exhaust done about a year and a half before I did my cam. Just the cam alone (with a good exhaust) should be worth ~40-50 rwhp and a good complete exhaust should be worth ~20-40 rwhp. Also, like Dan said, you'll lose more through the 4WD than with a 2WD vehicle. Your current dyno readings are just slightly above a stock Hemi LX vehicle which normally run in the neighborhood of 280 rwhp.

Here's a few pix of the stock Hemi WK exhaust log and the stock Hemi LX log; the stock Hemi WK log collector and my header collector; and finally one of my completed headers. You'll be amazed at what a difference it'll make.
