Your going to need the extra octane (resistance to detonation) with nitrous (oxygen molecules)

There is a safety disc on your nitrous tank that will open during an overpressure event. If it opens it's a good idea to have it vented to the outside of your Jeep. Just a safety and if you plan on taking it to the track you have to have it.

Yes you can, but I would get rid of the ZEX NMU and get some good solenoids and a throttle position switch.

The ZEX NMU has weak magnets/springs/seals and will leak eventually and you cannot rebuild it you will have to buy another. If you don't catch it leaking your going to have a huge issue! Good noids can be rebuilt and should be checked often.

Also get a nitrous filter! You wedge a Noid open and you got issues.

Call up some excellent companies and talk to them about what you would like to do.

I'd recommend talking to Nitrous Express and Nitrous Outlet.

Re: Nitrous ,ZEX kit on 5.7

I've an NX system on my Mustang, with plastic intake, for 10 years now. I personally have never had a problem, but have seen others that did. The thing to remember with nitrous is that you just don't have alot of room for error. If a fuel solenoid dies, you spray spraight nitrous-you'll pop an intake of any material. If a nitrous solenoid dies then you run straight gas and the engine will completely bog right out,and may backfire through the exhaust. As said before,it must only be used at full throttle and above 3000 rpm. Detonation has to be addressed if you're spraying any more than a 50 shot. The experts recommend a 2 degree retard with each 75-100 hp you add. I have talked with many guys who regularily run nitrous, both professional and amateur, and all agree that a small 50 shot doesn't require any change if you use the manufacturer recommended jets,as they usually run a bit more fuel than neccessary, just to be safe.
All the other stuff is a great idea but there are thousands of people running small shots that don't have any issues,or people with 100 shots that only have basic tuning done to deal with timing. Please don't read this to mean i'm saying its a waste of money for any of the other stuff, it all depends on your level of comfort and risk.

Re: Nitrous ,ZEX kit on 5.7

Thanks for an info
Well i had 82 mustang with stroked 302 in it and big shot of nitrous 150 + and I really like it , One time i had big back fire because I forgot to switch ignition back ... my air filter went through hood scoop on the hwy my think is on the mustang nos setup was easy , timing ,gas etc , But over there i had just carb , that's it ...and im getting a bit confused with all that tunning crap , computer, trans , injectors etc ...everything is just more complicated
But ill get my setup done fore shore
Thanks

Dual solenoids is a good idea. I had a solenoid stick open on my cobra. WOT switches are a must have on any automatic car, and like he said, kill it a few hundred RPM's before the shift point.

I dont know that you need to drop 2 degrees colder with a 75 shot, but, I'm not familiar with nitrous on the hemi engines.

Dont use platinum plugs, I've had the best luck with Iridium plugs when running nitrous in the past.

Its been stated, but, I would move that nozzle if you want to avoid a backfire.
