Re: Official post your mpg's.

I live in Perth, Western Australia. Basically 91 octane unleaded as regular fuel. My fuel consumption (highway) is 18.6 mpg. It used to be 16mpg until I gutted the OEM muffler out and installed a 3 inch flow-thru, left everything else stock.

Re: Official post your mpg's.

2012 5.7 Overland, last 2000 miles out of 3000 total miles average 18.6. EVIC and tracking gallons and miles were exactly the same. Interstate and semi rural paved roads.

Re: Official post your mpg's.

I would think that the EVIC's on the 3.7, 4.7, and 6.1's would be a little more accurate than the ones in the 5.7's with MDS. I have found on my 5.7's that the MDS "on" time, the farther off it is. On my recent 2000 mile trip it was usually off ~3 mpg.

Re: Official post your mpg's.

MDS on/off is controlled by the PCM when all of the programmed parameters are met. The only control the drivier has is to kind of learn some of the key ones and meet them by adjusting your driving style. Engine load is one of the biggies. At ~3000-4000 ft. elevation, where I am located, on a normal day anything ~30%< turns it on. At lower elevations, I believe those %ages are higher. You can also shut it off completely with one of the aftermarket tuners.

05ltdhemi, on yours you may want to do the MDS "ON" light mod. that I came up with for the LX vehicles back in 2005. The wiring is the same on the WK's as the LX's and the job is actually easier. Here's the "How to" I wrote, under my screen name, magnuman, over on LXForums.com: http://www.lxforums.com/board/f88/in...575/#post55813 If you decide to do it and need help, let me know and I'd be glad to give you pointers.

Awesome thank you. I will defenitly look into it. What do you gain by having the MDS light on mod?

Re: Official post your mpg's.

Running 3.7 v6 and averaging 17.5-18 mpg combo city and highway driving. Usually 20 mpg or a touch higher on all highway and 16.2-16.8 Not all that bad as heavy as it is and in the hills and mountains here in east Tenn.

Re: Official post your mpg's.

i usually get 21 mpg on hwy,120 km/hr,last year drove 525 km in brutal snow storm ,80 km /hr on average ,got 24.5mpg ,I know 80 km/hr is optimal mileage speed but i had a lot of weight under the vehicle from all the snow .I dont go by evic I have a little fuel economy calculator on a slide rule ,but the evic is ussually close,city/hwy combination I get 16-17,city I get 13.If i drive it hard i get average city /hwy 14 mpg, jack rabbit starts kill the 4.7 mileage.... but its so much fun !!!!!,
the link below explains epa economy ratings ,keep in mind test methods were changed in 2007 or 2008 model years to give more accurate results
from prev test methods ,this can explain why most of us dont get the mileage the sticker proclaims, not the manufacturers fault ,epa is goofy on calculating fuel economy.other factors believe it or not are ,oversized tires, hood scoops, ventshades, air deflectors on rear gate, mudflaps, bug deflectors, running boards roof racks ,anything that affects the aerodynamics can lower fuel economy.

Re: Official post your mpg's.

05ltd, The MDS light helps you learn what turns it on and what kind of driving conditions are most conducive to its operation. You can then adjust your driving style to maximize its "on" time once you learn some of these parameters. For instance, sometimes it won't come on when it normally should be on, and you can just "goose" the throttle a bit and it'll come on. I call the computer (PCM) on the LX, Hal, and the one on my WK, Haline. Sometimes they tend to be a little lazy, or are sleeping when they should be working. A little goose, usually wakes them up, LOL.

Re: Official post your mpg's.

does this light not come on from factory? is that the whole point of the mds light on? i baby the shit out of mine and usually dont let it shift above 2200 rpms. and let off so it does shift. its weird because before i put the programmer to it, used the mpg booster tune, my mpgs have gone down. now averaging in the low 13's before i would go below 14.5.

13 Highway

^That's with 87. I used the 85 for a while and was seeing 10 mpg in town. It's crazy that's regular grade here in Colorado. Back east, its 87, 89, 91
