Re: Power Steering Fluid

Learn my my mistakes and buy from the dealer, it is hydraulic fluid not power steering fluid. I added approx 4oz of generic power steering fluid that said "compatable with all types power steering" to my '06 and a week later the seals in the rack were gone, if I added fluid it ran back out just as fast as I could poor it in.

Re: Power Steering Fluid

Anyone else confirm that the mopar compliant fluid is no good for our systems?

Re: Power Steering Fluid

Last time I looked, I wasn't able to find a suitable replacement instead of the Mopar stuff, not sure if there is one out there.

I just spent the extra few bucks to get the stuff from the dealer...it doesn't hold a whole lot (so it's not too much more expensive), and that way you know it'll be alright.

Re: Power Steering Fluid

Motorworld has it in stock nate, i dont think there is an aftermarket version of this fluid since it is more than just steering fluid.

Re: Power Steering Fluid

Looked before and never found a direct replacement. Even trying a bit of another band makes mine play up, so not worth the risk.

Re: Power Steering Fluid

I've never had an issue with valvoline fluid, ran it in my 93 ZJ and now in my 01 WJ with no problems. Says right on it that it meets chrysler spec 5931 for power steering fluid. But good thing I do my research, the spec for 05+ is MS-10838 so the valvoline won't work. (pause while I eat my words) Amsoil claims their fluid is compatible, but I would double check. Looks like the dealership is the best option for ya.
