Amsoil XL synthetic and extended drain filter. I run all their products in my 05 hemi WK and my 2013 JK unlimited Rubicon.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Mobil 1 + K&N -or- Wix/NAPA Gold -or- OEM filter every 3,000 miles, because I like fresh oil in my engine. Royal Purple/Redline/Amsoil are "fine", as long as you do NOT extend your oil change intervals. Violating your warranty by extending your intervals beyond the 6,000 mile maximum on the advice of a third-party vendor is nonsensical, IMO.

Similarly, paying more to test your oil than to change it makes no sense for anyone but the testing company..

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Reputable oil filter on sale (K&N, Mobil-1, or Bosch Extended, for example).

Reputable 5W-20 full synthetic oil on sale (Castrol Edge, Mobil-1, Valvoline, or Pennzoil, for example).

Change both every 5,000 miles. Just turned 100K miles this weekend. The full synthetic oil comes out with high lubricity, so I know the additive package is still working. [Factory lifetime limited powertrain warranty limits me to <6,000 miles between oil changes.]

5.7L HEMI likes full synthetic over dino oil. I used dino oil only at engine break-in from new, then switched to full synthetic at 30K miles. [Factory oil was dino.]

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

I change my oil to Valvoline full synthetic max life since my jeep has over 125000+ miles on it. However I didn't think about changing the filter.

Ran conventional castrol till around 90k and then switched to synth, castrol edge. Chrysler approves it and I use a Wix or purolator. No leaks, no burning of oil. Great gas mileage and start ups with synth.

Are u doing regular or synthetic?

and you should research those "Fram" filters, those are a NO NO for me now. Ford makes a good "Motorcraft" oil filter that fits our jeeps!
Or literally anything but Fram lol

But that's good news on the XJ sounds like the regular oil changes help
I have been using a conventional oil in the GC and change it regularly. As for Mobil1 , I've used it in my Corvette ( factory filled w/ Mobil 1) for 10 years without any burnoff and it's subjected to a much tougher set of operating parameters than the Jeep is!

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Amsoil extended life with the new Purolator Synthetic oil filter. Both are rated at 10,000 mi but I change them at 7,500. I would never again use or recommend Royal Purple. After using it for 2 oil changes, the hemi ran rougher and in MDS mode it was notably coarse. It loves to rev on Amsoil, and can't even tell when MDS is on or off.
