Frams are made cheaply. The metal cans are one of the thinnest out there, the endcaps are cardboard instead of metal, they have less filter material and tend to fall apart when opened. They also tend to bypass a lot. Look for another thread on filters here, there is a link to a site where they cut them open and compared a bunch of brands of filters.

Thanks! Guess I'll have to look that up. Oil for me is Mobile1 Syn. Any other HEMI's out there recommending oil filters with their Mobile 1?

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Full synthetic quaker state in the 5 quart jug (+1) from wally world. I usually get the filter from napa but this time i was able to find the right filter in fram tough guard. The fram book is wrong for 2008 4.7's. It takes a ph2 or tg2.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

I run Mobil 1 in my built LS motor in the GTO and a Mobil 1 filter. My 5.7 WK gets either a mopar filter or a Mobil 1 filter depending on availability and either Valvoline Synthetic or Castrol syntec. Gf's 4.7 XK gets a mopar filter and either Mobil 1 or Valvoline synthetic.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Mobil-1 filter + Castrol Full Synthetic every 5K! A Fumoto quick drain valve with 12" of vinyl tubing into the pan helps with the mess.

Those valves kick azz...I've got them on both the WJ and the WK. Oil changes are so much cleaner.

Yeah they do! I got tired having 7 quarts of oil shooting the drain plug out and me not having enough escape room to get my arm out of the way in time to avoid it dripping down my arm & onto the ground.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!! I no longer need an entire roll of paper towels to change oil. Seems like the newer the ride the worse the position of the drain too.

In my older Jeeps, it was cake...nothing in the way at all. On the WJ, it'll piss oil all over the exhaust. On the WK, it shoots out all over that "skidplate" and then drips out for a week after you've changed the oil. Eff that. Everyone that does thier own oil changes should get one of these.
