Re: Rep your oil and filter!

I use Bosch oil filters. Purolator also is good, as is Wix.

I use Shell Rotella T synthetic in everything I own and operate (weight range depending on the application) . I changed it every 6k miles in the Jeep, and 6-9k miles in the Honda.

Oildrainvalve.net is where I got my valves. Right around $30 shipped

I know i learned something new! to say the least ive never heard of a quick drain valve.. and for the price of an oil change? (correct me with im wrong) but count me in! ill be ordering one today!

I also use something called a "filter mag" on my oil filters. idk if anyone else has heard of these, but i read awesome things about them, so ive been running one since about 12000 miles ago.
you guys should look into them!

where did your buy ur quick drain valve and tubing?

Same here with the skid plate! its a pain when i gets all over my drive way. i usually have to get a pressure washer and spray the skid plate and driveway after my oil changes... pain in the ass!

i gotta ask.. how in the world did you get a bunch of free oil filters??? lol

Hey do you have any problems switching back and forth between the two brands?? im running castrol syntec but im probably going to start running mobile 1..

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Im suprized by the amount of people on here who use Mobil1. It seems to get universally thrashed on every other forum Im on. It really doesn't seem to do well in oil analysis and is a group III based oil. For myself I look for a Ester/PAO based oil (not sure what I'll use in the jeep yet, leaning towards Amsoil) and I'll use a napa gold or wix filter.

I thought the same thing about just using any regular long magnet, but no that wont work. it has already been tested. The reason why the "filtermag" is so expensive is they use rare earth magnets that catch the metals in the oil, and regular magnets just wont cut it. if you do some extra research you can figure out all the details.

yeah those things got some BITE! lol but yeah like i said, regular magnets just wont cut it, haha i already looked everything up. its gotta be the rare earth magnets.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Since I just bought our srtjeep I have yet to do an oil change, but I plan using Mobil 1 full syn. 0w-40 and there filter per the owners manual. Boring I know, but that's what I've always used in my 300srt and the local shop alot of us LX/LC/WKSRT guys go to for wrenching recommends using plus his 6.1 NA charger runs 11.52 in the 1/4. I want to try the Royal Purple, but it gets spendy after 7 quarts later x2 srt's.

I always chuckle when I read these oil/filter debates.
I drive about 30-40k miles a year and have put well over 200k miles on my last 4 vehicles. All of them got regular 5k mile oil changes with whatever dino oil/filter that is on sale at the time. Never even a single hint of an oil related motor failure.
The important thing is only to change it once in awhile.
But I guess run whatever puts a smile on your face and helps you sleep better at night...lol.
