Re: Rep your oil and filter!

My WK only have 20k kilometers and I take it to the service of the dealership. I am kind of worry because I ask which kind of oil they are put in in and they say mineral, not synthetic. Can I star using Full synthetic after 20k kilometers on it? My engine is the 4.7 v8.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

^yeah you're fine. You can switch back and forth with no detrimental effect. I wouldnt recommend switching it a lot, but you're safe to do it here and there through the life of your car.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Mopar filter right now with Mobil 1 oil. I usually either use the Mopar or K&N filter, and have considered trying royal purple. The little pimple faced kid at O'Reiley's swears by it. Right now it is on sale for 50.00 with a K&N filter up to five quarts. So not to bad alittle more then the mobil one will cost me. Especially with the extra quart being 8.99.

I had used a quick change plug sold by Fram a while ago. The kind I had was a plug that replaced your stock drain plug. The replacement plug had a spring loaded valve that was opened when you screwed on the connector that had the plastic tube attached to it. However, when not using the drain tube, there was a thread on metal cap. BTW, these were machine treads and the cap had a o-ring in it as well. Seemed well made but it didn't fit my replacement vehicle and have not searched for a new kit lately.

For extreme filtration, check out AMSOIL bypass dual filter systems. Full flow filter traps 5 microns while the bypass filter (20-40 micron) takes care of the oil not going through the 5 micron filter and assures the oil pressure doesn't build extremes on the dirty side of the filter while also causing oil starvation on the clean side.

One of these has been on my wish list for years. I wanted to put one on my Mustang but with occasional track duty my oil/filter change frequency is on the short side for extra prevention so this system would not be cost effective.
