Re: Rep your oil and filter!

k&N filter and Pennzoil platinum 520 in the 5.7 it does have the occasional dry start for about 2 seconds about every 8 starts when its cold out when its warm it hardly ever does but ive tried every filter i can think of and the K&N seems to help the most.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Have used Kendall with Liquid Titanium GT-1 High Performance Synthetic Blend with a Fram Extra Guard filter since I purchased the Jeep nearly 2 years ago.

Thinking about switching to either the high mileage versions of the same oil/filter, or the full synthetic with an Xtended Guard Fram.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

I'm rocking Mobil1 full synthetic and mobil 1 filter. First time I changed the oil since I bought her from the dealer back in Dec. She purrs much better now. I think the dealer shorted me a quart and a half, but Never gotta go back there again.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

I've been using Royal Purple and K&N filters for years. Can you tell a difference between Royal Purple and say Mobil 1 or Valvoline Synthetic or whatever other brands are out there? Probably not. Realistically when it comes to synthetic oils, it's mostly just a preference, who's marketing campaign you like the best. As long as you stay away from the skunky cheap stuff, you'll be alright. The K&N filters are made to be used with synthetic oils and they have one thing that makes them worth their weight in gold. A little nut welded to the bottom of the filter for easy removal. Anyone who has ever had to stab a screwdriver through a stuck filter can appreciate that.

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

Just changed to synthetic oil for the first time, looking forward to see if I notice any change. Went with Mobil 1 oil & filter, planning on changing again at 5,000 miles

Re: Rep your oil and filter!

I'm running a FRAM Ultra filter with NAPA full synthetic oil now (which I hear is rebranded valvoline). Runs like a champ. I bought 10 cases of the oil at $2.75/qt last year so I'll be using it for a while. I've also ran the OEM Mopar filter a few times (received in the HEMI tune up kits) and it seems fine too.
