Flyn Ryan, what are your thoughts on running a higher octane fuel? What do you see in the long run? Issues maybe?

I remember what you said about data logging and I'm looking into it. Also, Sean said he can adjust the fan settings so I might purchase the 180 t-stat. I just want to get down to the bottom of 87 89 and 93.

What about running a higher octane fuel? If Sean sends you a 93 octane tune, you better make damn sure that you are running 93. You run whatever octane he suggests, or higher. Failure to do so may lead to spark knock, which if left unchecked will trash a motor before long. Depending on how aggressive his spark map is, with your lift and big tires you may want to run a higher octane than he suggests just as added insurance.

I dont mess around with tuning for economy. Running optimal AFRs and timing will see improved fuel economy in itself.

I'm running 93. Lol. The larger tires only threw off the shift points. I don't see how they could aid in spark knock.

I have three tunes. 87 89 & 93. I was thinking about switching 89. But first, I wanted to go back stock to see if the tune makes a difference.

I will say, like I've said already, the 3 performance mods have made an outstanding difference for my 3.7 with 32" tires. I could only imaging how the torque would feel if suspension and tires were stock with these 3 performance mods.

The lift and 32" tires made me sluggish but after the 3 performance mods, my performance is probably 2 times better than that of a stock 3.7 WK.

^^^That means if you have a completely stock WK, line up next to my 3.5 inch lift WK with 32" mud tires and you'll be seeing and hearing rocks on your windshield that my tires throw behind me.

Simple. With larger tires, and more aerodynamic resistance (drag), the engine has to work harder at all times.

Not necessarily. Whatever tune that has optimal AFR and timing for the octane of gas you are currently running, with no spark knock. But the higher the octane, the more aggressive the tune typically is.

I've got the same set-up as you minus the spacers. So would like to get a little more umph when pushing my 32s with the 3.7L. Good to hear the tunes are working out for you.

I also see you have a ported TB. Did you have that installed prior to the SCT and CAI? If so, did you notice any kind of gains with just the TB?

First it was the K&N 77. Didn't really notice much. Maybe a slight increase of mpg. Then maybe a weak later, I installed the Fastman TB while at work. I instantly noticed throttle response. Later that night, I put in the 93 tune.

So I don't have a good idea as to how much of an impact the SCT made. I do know that I don't regret the purchase because it can read CEL codes also.

I do know that I have these 3 mods and my uphill travel is much better than stock and uphill travel is the main thing I wanted to improve.

I just emailed Sean/ Hemifever to see if the SCT can recalibrate the speedo for my 32" tires. He has already told me he can adjust the fan settings for a 180 t-stat.

And the dealer can only recalibrate up to 2" larger tires right? Anything bigger would have to be aftermarket right?

I do know there is a Pro Comp programmer that will recalibrate the speedo for the 3.7.

Thanks for the insight. Looks like the SCT and a TB is the way to start for some gains.

Dealer can only do factory WK tire sizes. If you want to recalibrate for your 32s, you'll need the Hypertech/Pro Comp or AEV EGR.

My question would be: is there any potential overwritting/interaction with the SCT and the Hypertech/Pro Comp/AEV EGR recalibrators?
