Re: Side Exhaust + Shorty Headers Project

That looks insane dude. I even like it with just the turn downs but the side wxits will be amazing. Cant wait to see it all done.

BTW, my side pipe is really close to the plastic (just below see sig pic) and its never had any issues with heat, just leaving my friends girl friend's leg with a nice exhaust tip shpaed scar on her leg. lol

That sounds amazing! I love the combination of the sounds of Raw power and the humm of Mud tires.

Re: Side Exhaust + Shorty Headers Project

Thanks for the well wishes guys. We made it into Cleveland early Friday morning and completed moving in and unpacking Saturday night. The weather here is great!!! For now at least. We walked all around yesterday and have had lunch/dinner outside everyday so far.

The uHaul trailer was swaying like crazy the first hour or so. We ended up pulling into a gas station and shifting more weight up to the front , and after that it drove just fine. There were quite a few steep hills the last 8 hours so so. All i did was hit the tow/haul button before the hill and it went up with no problems at all. I averaged 11.6mpg over the whole trip which i thought was pretty good considering the weight and speed we were traveling. My girlfriend's Mazda 3 wasnt quite as lucky. The engine light is on and my Trinity is showing her to have about 5 codes, all O2 Sensor related. She said it started driving funny the last 200 miles, so i guess we'll try swapping the pre cat O2 sensor and go from there.

So now we're here, start the new job tomorrow. I need to order a new muffler for the passenger side and get that replaced. Jegs said the Pypes have a lifetime warranty so ill just send the bad one back. When i get the new one installed ill prob just get the tips completed at the same time. I think im going to be looking for new wheels soon though, i want to get rid of the spacers and i think the tips need to be balanced out with some better wheels. Anyone know a good muffler shop in Cleveland?

Re: Side Exhaust + Shorty Headers Project

Sounds great, I am glad you got there with out issues. Why didnt you use tow haul the entire trip? Ive towed a Heavily loaded U haul before and it was so much better having the tow haul mode on.

I think some nice wheels will look great on your jeep. Just IMHO, i think you need a nice classy not "loud" wheel. Your jeep is not gangster and a ncie set of wheels will look great. Maybe SRT reps with some MTs? Or are you staying eith 17s?

I personally hate busy blingy wheels.

Cant wait to see the tips all done and the exhaust set up. If i ever re do my side exhaust on my WK, i think i am going to go true dual and run the pipes just like you did but with one of my dual tips on each side.

Re: Side Exhaust + Shorty Headers Project

Yea i definitely dont want any blingy wheels. My first requirement for wheels is the lug nuts must be visible. Any wheel with that lug nut cap/cover over them are definitely not of interest to me. I wanted to do some SRT or 20" Viper reps with some MT's, but after seeing the prices of 20" MT's i may prefer to stay 17-18". Although being up here it's my understanding AT tires do better on ice and packed snow than MT's do. Either way, that will likely be a month or two away.

I like your thinking.

I live in NH and we get some intense winters and All terrains deff excel over mud terrains in the winter. The only tire i ever had that was amazing in the snow that was a mud style tread was the Cooper Discoverer STT. Its almost identical to the Toyo Open Country MT but cheaper and last a bit longer. They are also siped so they are great on wet roads and rain.

Re: Side Exhaust + Shorty Headers Project

Did you get the EGR issue squared away when you had it dynoed, or do you still have the light? Where did you find your SRT exhaust manifolds? Know of anyone else that has some they want to get rid of?

Re: Side Exhaust + Shorty Headers Project

The egr and secondary O2's were turned off with the tune. I found out that Summit Racing is based near Akron Ohio, 45 mins away! So i went there today. It was soooo cool! Anyway got some new mufflers that will hopefully tone down some of the drone. I think you guys were right about the Pypes muffler rattle, once i cut it off it really sounds like theres something small rattling around in it, likely some weld splatter or something. So i cut off the pypes and will be clamping on the magnaflows in the morning. It sounds pretty good right now with just the cats but its too loud to leave it that way
