Re: SRT Exhaust conversion with Dual In - Dual Out Muffler

It is my understanding that there are nine bolts on the passenger's side manifold. The slotted hole I had drilled should be for this slotted section that the 6.1 manifold doesn't have.

Are you confusing it with the driver's side which only needs 8 bolts?

Yup, your right man... Checked my old head and there is a nine hole... My bad... Been a year since I installed mine. I definitely didn't drill that hole, maybe that is why I get an egr low flow code.

Re: SRT Exhaust conversion with Dual In - Dual Out Muffler

Danny,

When you dropped the tranny support crossmember did you stack washers up 2 inches high as a spacer above it or did you use steel spacer sleeves? I'm having a heck of a time finding bolts that are two inches longer than the M10x1.50x135mm that are on the outside. I would probably need qty 4 M10x1.50x185mm bolts.

Obviously the transmission has to stay in its current position but when you drop the support I'm curious to know how to fill that space.

Re: SRT Exhaust conversion with Dual In - Dual Out Muffler

I remember looking for those stupid bolts, it was a pain in the ass. i didn't use any spacers on the smaller transmission bolts. Drove it around and it was fine... No wobbles in the driveline or anything. I ran out of spacers and didn't have longer m8 bolts, so I just said what the hell and my tranny was sitting a little lower than normal. To do it up right you would need spacers for the tranny m8 bolts also, and once again those bolts would need to be a little longer.

Re: SRT Exhaust conversion with Dual In - Dual Out Muffler

For ease of exhaust installation I ended up purchasing the SRT tailpipe hanger bracket (part # 05290823AB). I know it's not a part most people use with their SRT clone conversion but I think it will end up looking much cleaner than simply welding hanger bars to the rear frame and should also allow me to install pretty much any SRT catback system in the future with ease.

Re: SRT Exhaust conversion with Dual In - Dual Out Muffler

Just finished installing the tailpipe hanger. The OEM SRT exhaust is going to be so simple to install.

The Curt hitch mounts right up to the bracket using the same mounting bolts. Add washers and nuts and your all done. Piece of cake.

Re: SRT Exhaust conversion with Dual In - Dual Out Muffler

I've acquired all the components I need to do the SRT exhaust conversion. Now I need to shop around town and find out who's reputable in the Denver area that's willing to take on this project.

More fun with the wire wheel. All cleaned up and nowhere to go.

the left side's path is longer in front so it crosses and the right (exhaust from right ) side path is longer in rear. probably close enough to equal.

Was the only reason I could think of too. Think they did some thing similar with the JK as well.
