Here's a thread on another forum that will better explain the benefits of the Challenger IAT sensor compared to the stock one in our WK 5.7 Hemis. Also the OP offers a solution to the plug issue mentioned above. Get ready to read it's very informative!

Also here's 3 pics of the plug (seems I have the gray 2 prong one) and the Challenger IAT sensor I have in my 05 WK Hemi. Hope this and the above post somewhat helps

Re: Srt intake tube

Wonder if yours is a late 05 then. My early 05 LX has the black plug and is different from the one on my 06 WK. I have the Challenger Sensor in the WK and, as said in that thread, IAT runs (on the highway) ~0-3 degrees different than ambient. On my LX, years ago I made an adjustable IAT so I could raise and lower it to almost any temp. I wanted. It's just a switch and adjustable potentiometer. Over the years I have found that running it 20-30 degrees below ambient seems to deliver the best fuel economy and performance. Theory is that the lower the temp. the PCM will advance the timing a little more.

On the thermostats, I finally went back to the stock 205* ones (from Napa 190* ones) on both my Hemi vehicles. Never did see much difference in anything with the lower one, and since I only go racing 2-4 times a year, I figured it wasn't worth it.

You'd be right on mine being late 2005, I believe it was manufactured in June 2005.

Re: Srt intake tube

Yes, bet they did a switch mid-year, or maybe all the 05 WK's have the gray plug. My LX, with the black plug, was built in July 04.

BTW just read your new Hemi Fuel Economy thread, I'm so damn jealous of your mods and mostly your fuel economy lol. The best I can get is 16-18 hwy and 12-14 combined. And that's with mostly all of the engine sensors and oxygen sensors replaced at 100,000 miles lol I now have 131,000 miles.

I have the gray plug, and since the Jeep is stuck at the dealer for recall redux 3 and a nitrogen refill, I'll check to see if they have the IAT in stock when I go to pick her up today! Can't beat this mod for $6! Then I'll check that off the list!

Re: Srt intake tube

Would this fit on my 2010? I have a CAI and like you said, the sensor is so close to the wall of the tube.

If you've got the gray connector, it should. Make sure you read the detailed post which is linked to above. It's very informative.

Looks like I will need to make an adapter harness.

Noticed the iat sensor sticks out and doesn't screw in properly. Is it installed correctly? This is the stock sensor.

Pretty sure it wiggles in further than that...but I can't go look at mine because it's stuck in the shop for the next infinity.
