SRT8 exhaust on a 5.7

Hello let me start out with I know very little about exhaust systems. I apologized if this has already been answered. I didn't even know how to look this up.

I saw someone locally was selling a SRT8 exhaust for $100 and thought maybe I could put this on my jeep.

I have a 5.7 hemi without a trailer hitch and stock bumper. Is there a way I could put this exhaust on my jeep and not have to run it throught the center of the bumper? Also would I see any performance increase with a stock srt8 exhaust? Does anyone know if there is a way to run this exhaust and still have the spare and have the tips come out underneath the bumper? a tip coming out on each side?

Or would I just be better off getting a exhaust sytem that would replace the stock and use the current locations?

Re: SRT8 exhaust on a 5.7

pretty much pointless for you because your not looking to put it in the middle or change to an srt8 bumper so its not going to look good..and you could put them on the ends left and right side but it would be really hard..u would have to go to a welding shop and have them retro fit an exhaust to fit the way you want

Re: SRT8 exhaust on a 5.7

A couple folks (viking757 and 555ctsv) have switched to the SRT exhaust manifolds (headers) and cat. back setup. I had a custom set of headers built, along with a complete 3 in. cat. back. No matter which way you go, you'll notice a significant increase in performance, and some in fuel economy too. At that price, I'd jump on it. Then do a search and check out the "how to's" for the install. Some mods. are required to get everything to fit properly. You won't be sorry though.

Look at a cat back from Gibson, magnaflow, borla etc... Easy to install yourself.

Re: SRT8 exhaust on a 5.7

Just adding a cat. back won't make a significant difference in performance. The stock Hemi WK exhaust manifolds are the big choke point in the system. The Hemi LX exhaust manifolds are only slightly better. (See pictures in refs. below) They are both "log" style manifolds which are very inefficient. Single cylinder to collector headers like custom ones or SRT's are the only real efficient way to go if you want to increase performance and economy.
