i have a 3.7 with big tires.... that is how it runs, it has slow acceleration. you can get a k and n filter, it will help you a little.

If your under warranty have them look at it if need be? But honestly, cleaning it will not do a thing.

If you think you are running rough (computer will know before you and throw a code) some better options are to check your plugs/injectors. Also check out the EGR, common failure on all WK Jeeps and causes a bad idle. Also a fluid swap on the entire Jeep does some good. I did all mine when the oil came up. Just hack her up and do the oil, front/rear diffs, tcase and trans. They go together in sets and use same fluids. (diffs 75W140) (trans - any good ATF+4) - engine 5W30. Beyond this stuff there isn't much you can do. Like I said the computer will tell you everything you want to know if there is an issue. So if not, I wouldn't touch your TB, can only do unnecessary damage. GL

Pay no attention to what this guy is saying. This is false info. The computer, for example, will not tell you when your egr is going bad, as so many have found out. Replacing my egr made a big difference, and there was no CEL.
Cleaning the TB was without doubt the best performance improvement I have done, and throttle repsonse is night and day better. The gunk is so heavly caked onto the TB after 40k that it took 2 hours to get it all scrubbed of, but what A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Catch can will keep it nice an clean now. I also only run top tier 89 octane and run fuel system claner regulalry.

Re: Throttle Body Cleaning

Mine looked just as dirty. CC installed at the same time when I cleaned it, just checked it and after 6k it is clean as a whistle. EVeryone with a hemi needs to get a CC and clean the TB. Makes a world of difference in drivability and throttle response.

Re: Throttle Body Cleaning

quick note on seafoaming...depending on how dirty your engine is you may want to wait until after the seafoam to put new plugs in... I've seen tons of people foul out plugs running seafoam on very dirty engines.

Re: Throttle Body Cleaning

When I installed the Fastman TB at 93k miles, my stock TB looked brand new. Not a drop of dirt on it.

If you install a CAI and the Fastman TB and a 93 tune if you can, it's a world of a difference for the 3.7. I wish a member on here can take it for a drive and tell me what they think afterward. And I'm turning 32" mud tires.

Wrong. The TB is fine to be cleaned...the only one I would NOT clean is the 5.7, because it is electronic. And at any rate I would clean it (I kind of have to when I port them) ONLY with the TB off the vehicle, disconnected from the harness.

The 3.7 and 4.7 are fine to be cleaned, although from the TBs I have seen, they typically dont accumulate that much carbon buildup.

Seafoam is easy, just pour it in through a vacuum line slowly.

Re: Throttle Body Cleaning

3.7's don't need to be cleaned I'd say.
