Re: Throttle Body Cleaning

I cleaned mine, not so much for the throttle body, but for the idle control valve built into the bottom. That was all gunked up, the throttle body had minimal dirt on it. I removed the throttle body and then removed the idle valve from the body to clean it.

Re: Throttle Body Cleaning

Late to the throttle body cleaning party but was wondering if the black stuff gets built up on the backside of the TB. I took my K&N off today thinking I was going to see a jet black TB after 55k miles but it was perfectly clean. I didn't remove the whole thing. Didnt feel like getting too far into it for nothing. I have a 2006 4.7L.

Re: Throttle Body Cleaning

The 4.7 is not like a Hemi, where it ges gunked up very quickly. Still, you need to remove it to clean it all. It only takes about 2 minutes to remove.

Re: Throttle Body Cleaning

The 3.7 and 4.7 TB's stay clean for a very long time.

My stock TB was spotless when I removed it to install the Fastman at over 90,000 miles.

My 2007 Grand Cherokee was running a little rough, and I tried diffrent additive. The best thing to do is get a Fuel air induction service with BG product. Cost $ 166.87 but worth every penny. I picked up around 5mpg and runs smooth. Goggle (BG find a shop) check it out, you will not be sorry. Can not buy BG product at auto stores.
