I have a V6 and happy with it now. Had a Ford explorer 4.6L V8, but this V6 hasmore HP and easyon gas.

Re: v8 or v6? Which is a better choice overall?

I'd go 4.7 if you're ruling out the HEMI. Very close in MPG, and obviously a little beefier. But there's tons of people with 3.7's and have nothing but good things to say.

Get a HEMI

Re: v8 or v6? Which is a better choice overall?

That sounds like a winner. I got a cold air intake system on my 3.6L and it helped alot. on power and MPG.

Re: v8 or v6? Which is a better choice overall?

I've had 3.7's, 4.7's and Hemi's. I like the 4.7 the best. Nice flat power curve, not as revvy as you would think. Hemi is nice but I like throttle response on the 4.7 better. 3.7 isn't terrible, good MPG, but no low end.
