WK 05 4.7 - exhaust without the drone?

.... is that even possible? (except for stock)

I am pretty new to this and without ever hearing/reading of problems with drone, I installed a Flowmaster 50 Deltaflow on my 4.7 WK 05 a week ago.

Finally, I got the sound of a V8 ..... but coming home I had a huge headache from what I later learned here on JeepGarage is the drone. This seems to be quite common with Flowmasters.

The drone sets in at 1800 rpm and disappears just above 2000.

Yesterday I filled all possible cavities in the back with rubber foam: reduced drone by 15% at best.

What should I do? I don't want to go back to stock ....

Will a resonator from Flowmaster help? Is it even possible to install this on WKs? The pipe goes in a lot of loops behing the muffler .....

I habe read here on the forum that certain systems do not drone - however, those posts all seem pretty subjective .... (ok, drone can be subjective!).

Magnaflow? Corsa? Borla? Or just a resonator - if possible?

Thanks for any help!!!

Add a small glasspack behind it. But yeah there is a reason they are called "dronemasters" lol

Thanks Strongjeff - I have to check the length of glasspacks ... do you have any recommendation which one to get? There are around 12" left behing the muffler.

Has anyone ever tried header wrap? I read about this simple trick to get rid of drone in a different forum. Sound amazing - though time consuming....

I'd be wary of doing exhaust wrap on a daily driver. The wrap will hold moister more and on the hit exhaust will cause it to rust at an accelerated rate.

Do you have a picture of the exhaust? I'd like to see it so I can get an idea of what to recommend

Re: WK 05 4.7 - exhaust without the drone?

Here are some pics:

First: I just looked up "glasspack 2,5" on ebay and came across the so called Cherry Bomb that would be 12" long?

Second: don't get shocked by the poor rear pipe (and its mount) - that will be fixed / changed at the next installation (possibly of a glass pack)

Third: OK, moisture with wrap makes sense .... nothing for daily driving under my conditions!!

You might be able to have the muffler moved toward a few inches as well. Have a 12 or even a 14 inch glass pack onto it to take the edge off.
