I already took out the TB and cleaned it best I could with a dry rag. There is some burnt on oil which maybe rubbing alcohol will help me.. but I don't have any at the moment. Maybe next week. Does unplugging the battery for 5 minutes truly help after cleaning it?
All it does is reset the computer so it can relearn everything. Every time I do any upgrade or replace an engine component I do it.

All the burnt on gunk is what needs to come off the TB so it is nice and shiny, with no residue anywhere, and yes it is a PITA to do this. It took me about 2 hours with a t-shirt and rubbing alcohol. The removal of the gunk will cause a high idle, so unplugging the batery resets the ECU and idle.
If you install a catch can when cleaning up the TB, it will not get the baked on gunk and any residue should wipe off easily.

The HEMI is happy now. And about to get happier with the new EGR. 44k miles on it, figured I would just change out everything since its new to me and I'm not sure what's in it. Oil change isn't for another 2500 miles or so and we're going to Mobil-1.

Love the new Jeep, but damn those 16 plugs! I just came from a 4 cylinder GTI, lol... 4 plugs.

Good luck to all those DIYers, I'm handy and mechanically inclined but by no means an auto mechanic. I'm a scientist, lol...seriously.

And so the Jeep addiction begins.
Was there any anti-seize on the original plugs?
TIA

Re: Wow, it really does have 16 spark plugs (5.7L HEMI)

SO even after the 16 plugs, EGR, PCV and TB cleaning I still have a bit of hesitation when I pound the gas from a roll. It's like 2nd gear stutters a bit. Maybe its normal.. I am used to a little 4-cylinder turbo putting out a lot of power.. felt way different than this NA engine

There is a performance flash for your '08 HEMI: http://www.wkjeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk_1800610b.pdf

I had it done when it was in for other warranty work that required the StarScan. Thus, N/C to me.

I can't state that there was -or- wasn't any improvement, but for free, it was OK to have done.

You have to read it and decide for yourself. I guess if you have access to the CALID's, it's a good thing. For >$100, I would have to think twice about it.

My MDS works fine, I get the hesitation when going 3/4 to full throttle. It just feels like I'm not getting ALL of the HEMI, just most of it.

Do our coilpacks ever go bad? My gas mileage is awesome after all the previously listed fixes so I don't think anything is too wrong. Truck drives great otherwise.

It may just be the inherent lag we get in our throttle by wire.

Re: Wow, it really does have 16 spark plugs (5.7L HEMI)

its not lag though, its all the way through the gear. For instance cruising at 50MPH, punch it to accelerate and it downshifts fine and then the gear shudders until I hit 4th. From a standstill pulls like a train and up top its fine as well, it just feels like 3rd shudders all the way through sometimes. Just wondering if coilpacks might cause this... or the MAP sensor?
