Re: New Turbo and hoses....

Should I ask the dealer to replace something specific if I have oil leaking on top of the turbo, the hoses from the crank vent (I still need to install my catch-can). What should I check to ensure the hoses are good?
I hate the dealers general lack of knowledge so will look at it myself and point them in the dirrection of the issue :-))

Re: New Turbo and hoses....

Thanks I have an extended warranty do you think this would be covered?
What hose options do I have; any silicone kits?

Re: New Turbo and hoses....

everything will be the exact same expect there will be a black seal instead of an orange one

they might cover it under warranty, mine ran out just before so it wasnt covered, but they did give me a discount

this is the pipe, and a good site to order from
unless ofcourse they will do it under warranty

Re: New Turbo and hoses....

I as well have the orange seal, and will be going into my dealer to get it replaced. Last time I had the intake off I saw a small amount of oil right at the opening of the turbo. I have an extended warranty so I'm fine there. Guess I will get my list together to get the few small issues fixed. Thanks for all this great info in here. My dealer also has no clue when I come in with issues. It's fun to tell them to do this and they look all confused. I'm shocked at the lack of knowledge they have with our motor.

Re: New Turbo and hoses....

If you live in any northern climate don't install a catch can. The filter can freeze and block the flow of air making excessive crank case pressure causing oil to shoot out of the dip stick. Guess how I know.

Go with the elephant hose mod. Happened in Edmonton with some -40*C weather but I'm sure it could happen at temps warmer than that.

Re: New Turbo and hoses....

My friend has a 2008 CRD whose swirl motor and intake manifold just gave up the ghost. She was driving and all of a sudden zero power. 5 grand repair at 108,000 kms. My CRD has 95 kms and is starting to jerk a bit at slow speeds when the engine is not hot. Wondering if that is the beginning of the end for my motor too? I am contemplating getting the extended warranty but that alone will cost me 2700 bux.... Geesh. Ihave until 100,000 kms. what do you all think?

Re: New Turbo and hoses....

Put in a 4.7K resistor between the red and grey wire on the swirl motor connector and no more swirl motor issues. It has help several people with swirl motor failures. I have been running mine for over a month and zero problems. They are like a $1 can its easy to try if that is your problem.
