05 GC Hemi Rough Country 2" lift installed w/new tires

I felt like it was time for me to post something that may help others decide on when it's their turn to choose a lift kit and/or tire size. I learned a lot from this site but the one thing I could not research and get a 100% answer was if a 255/75 would fit without having to shave the uca bolt or buy spacers. If anyone else is wondering, the Cooper AT3's in 255/75 17 will fit but just barely. I do get a slight rub at full L/R but it's manageable. I am in the process of doing the pinch weld mod for added insurance.

The 1st photo is after the lift with 265/65 17 tires and the 2nd photo is with 255/75 17 tires.

Photos 3 and 4 show how close the uca bolt is to the tire.

As you can see in the 5th photo. I did get a small 1/4" tear on the inner boot either from the install or just freak coincidence. I used Shoe Goo as others have suggested and it's holding up just fine. Used brake cleaner, applied, let sit 16 hours and drove around 30 miles on the highway the very next day with no issues.

Photo 6 is after lift, 255/75 17 tires next to a newer Jeep GC.

Just want to give a shout out to everyone that has posted in this forum that helped me make these decisions. It was a 50/50 split when I bought this GC on either to do a lift or lower it and add 20's. So far, I'm happy with the lift.

I'll post up a pic on level ground in the next couple of days.

Re: 05 GC Hemi Rough Country 2" lift installed w/new tires

Well two days later, the Shoe Goo quit working. I think the friction of it being on the inner part of the boot and the compression of it when turning was too much for it. Time to order a new assembly.

Also with these 255's they still rub on the sway bar at full L/R. Looks like I'm going to have to buy some wheel spacers as well. Makes me wish I went ahead and got the 265's.

Did you ever get the spacers? I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing. Rc lift and 1.5 spacers all around. I'd love to get 255/70/17 or 255/75/17 under there. Can't really swing 265/70/17 duratrac under there money wise

Re: 05 GC Hemi Rough Country 2" lift installed w/new tires

Yeah, I ended up buying the Spidertrax 1.5" spacers. Got a good deal on the "blemished" ones they had for sale on Ebay. Only blemishes I could see on them was that they didn't match each other in color. Two were a lighter blue then the dark blue you normally see.

I'll post up some photos once I get them on. This New Jersey weather has been up and down and raining/snowing when I would get a chance to put them on. Hopefully in these next few days...fingers crossed.

What size lift did you chose? Fairly affordable?

Re: 05 GC Hemi Rough Country 2" lift installed w/new tires

Here are some more photos of the lift. The first photo is before the Spidertrax 1.5" spacers and 255 75 tires were put on (pictured are 265 65 tires). All other photos are after the spacer install and 255 75 tires. I went ahead and did the pinch weld mod to avoid any issues with that down the road. I no longer have any rubbing on the sway bar at full turn.

The lift installed was the Rough Country 2" lift.

p.s. don't mind all the grease you see. I have yet to fix the CV axle tear. I have the new complete axle just don't have the time yet to put the new one on.

Looks good. The RC Lift is great for the money. Not a fan of spacers, but I understand the reason for them. I like those factory wheels. WK looks nice and clean too

What, where is a pinch weld? I have the same kit with 265/ 70r17. How do like those spacers? Thought about some 1.25" spacers those look pretty good though.
