Re: 2005 5.7 Hemi Vibration at 60-65mph

Just pull the skid plate off oil on the top of the skid plate and bottom of differential. So i am assuming the gasket is shot and probably the whole flipping thing. I'll take it apart tomorrow and see.

So just got of the phone with the place I bought it from they are going to pay for a tune up and anything else i think needs to be replaced. Here is a list of things I want done let me know if there is anything I am missing.

EGR Valve

Whole Drive-line Inspection
Transmission Filter Fluid
Transfer Case
Power Steering
Cooling System
Exhaust Leak Check

I have already done the air filter, PCV valve, spark plugs, and belt.

Check your front diff mount; they typically start to go bad around 40k and you will feel vibrations from the front.

Re: 2005 5.7 Hemi Vibration at 60-65mph

Vibration = U-Joint

U-Joint Not Serviceable = Drive shaft

Drive shaft = $700

No Vibration = Worth it

However I do still have some binding when I back up in the morning only for a little bit by the time I exit my apartment complex it's gone turns really smooth for the rest of the day. Next morning back to binding.

Ideas?
More differential additive?

Re: 2005 5.7 Hemi Vibration at 60-65mph

I have the 60-65 mph vibration. My jeep mechanic says its almost always caused by the drive shaft in the early wk's. The grease in the shaft settles to one spot and thats what causes the vibration at said speeds. Mine is very minimal so i have yet to address the issue. I'm guessing that is all or part of your problem. good luck..

Re: 2005 5.7 Hemi Vibration at 60-65mph

If you can afford having the driveshaft out for a little bit of time, you can replace the u-joints yourself...it's messy and time consuming, but possible.

When mine went bad a few years ago, I replaced the whole shaft (that was before they more than doubled the price, I paid $350 from the dealership), and kept the old one to do the u-joints myself. Just under a year later, the replacement shaft started getting some stiff spots, so I had it replaced under warranty with one of the fancy $700 ones.

Still haven't got around to replacing the u-joints on the first shaft, but if you do a quick google search there are a few how-to pages that take you through it.
