2005 GC opinions

Hey everyone. I am new the forum and would like to get any opinions on which route I should take with my WK. I have thought about lifting it and fitting 33's. I have also thought about going the other way and making it a street machine. Either way I would still like to tow with it, eventually. I 've only had it for almost a year and haven't done anything yet. Anyways any help would be appreciated.

I am in that process now... i just purchased a set of JK rims with 255/75 R17s. My 05 has 235/65s...

I am getting the spidertrax spacers anyway, so the JK rims will clear the calipers.

I am going the Rocky Road route, with OME struts, upgraded UCA's and the new wheel/tire combo.

This should be a fun project. I'll keep you up to date.

Re: 2005 GC opinions

I am ordering the spacers tomorrow, either the Rough Country or the Spidertrax. I will be putting up pictures as I do my work. Y'all will get tired.

Re: 2005 GC opinions

You will most likely have to trim the pinch weld in the back of the fender well. Easy to do, just research pinch weld mod.
I think I did a post about it last year sometime.
Anyway here are some pics...ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1442272438.796657.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1442272453.567567.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1442272474.258855.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1442272491.920346.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1442272508.863859.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1442272551.249989.jpg

Re: 2006 GC opinions

Hunterbo, thanks for the pics! So to clarify you are saying that there is rubbing on the pinch weld with the bigger tires? By the way your GC looks great...just what i had imagined with mine. I like the stance and I haven't seen to many of that color. With the JK wheels isn't the offset different than the stock WK wheels? Did you ever have them on before spacers? Just wondering? I have done some research and there are some guys that say they are running these wheels on GC's without spacers. And then other's that say you have to run spacers to fit these wheels? Thanks for the help.

Re: 2005 GC opinions

No I never put them on without spacers, pretty sure you have to grind the caliper down some to do that. I'm not down with that.
Yes, most likely you will have to trim the pinch weld. Even with the lift, that little piece that sticks out is enough to get some tire rub. Particularly if you are flexing while turning.
Thank you for the compliment, yea I haven't seen this color much either. Makes me like it that much more
