Yeah its normal. That is why they need replaced because they get all gunked up. If you shake the old one and it rattles it was still working, if it doesnt it was bad. This the reason a lot of V8 guys buy catch cans for their rigs, but it really isnt necessary for our wimpy engines

Another easy and quick thing you should think about doing is cleaning out your throttle body. The correct way is to take it completely off, but I just wiped it out as best I could with it on...

Ok cool thank you. It was still rattling so it was still functioning. Still doesn't hurt to put the new one in. And with the throttle body, it was ported by FR about 10k miles ago. I'm sure its still clean as a whistle!

Re: 2006 3.7L Differential Fluid Change... and more

Just finished up changing the front and rear diff and t case fluids. I decided to pull the rear diff cover off and do a better overall service. The rear diff and Tcase were simple. I was somewhat surprised that the tcase didn't require a lot of fluid. It barely took 1qt.

The front diff was a little more difficult. It took a good amount of effort to get the fill plug out, but with some WD-40 and some time... it came loose.

Filled the front and rear diffs with Royal Purple 75w140 and the friction modifier, both took about 2qts to fill. I used Mopar ATF-4 fluid for the tcase.

I appreciate all the help with this. It definitely made the process easier! I don't know if ill notice a difference, but its good knowing the fluid is clean and I'm hoping I get another 80k miles out of the jeep!

Good to hear it went well, I agree about the peace of mind now that it is done!
