Was it a spacer or adapter? How did it fail? Lug bolts or spacer itself? If it was a spacer, did you replace the studs with longer studs?

Lots of questions, just curious what caused them to fail.

Re: 2011 GC 20in wheels fit on 05 GC Limited?

Wow those look great. I have used 1/4" and 1/8" thick slip over the stud spacers when i had my JK wheels on with no issues. My mechanic told me that there was plenty of thread left to use them safely and after working at a tire shop (town fair tire) i would not hesistate to use them again.

I also had 1.5" thick bolt on wheel spacers on my lifted XJ with 35" tires for 4 years and never had an issue. I know many people who have used them w/o issue and many who have had issues and the people who had issues either had very poorly made cheap spacers off ebay or did not use lock tite and check the torque of the spacers on a regular basis. If you buy bolt on spacers get a well know brand like spidertrax.

Mine weren't slip on spacers like yours, mine were 1.5" spidertrax bolt on spacers. No need to replace the studs. The spacer cracked on a -40c night last winter, as a result of the crack it sheared the studs right off the spacer. I spent the money on good spacers to avoid that happening... You live and learn. All I can do is recommend buying wheels with the proper offset and back spacing you're looking for, in your case the wheels will fit but you should trim the UBJ bolt. Like many people have said, with air tools you do not need the bolt.

Also, you may not need to trim the bolt at all, someone said they have a 1/2" of room between the tire and bolt with those wheels.. That distance will never change it moves in unison with your wheel and suspension.

Wow ive never heard of them cracking due to temperature. Thats a good thing to remember for the future.

I guess you are right though, just buy the right wheels/tires in the first place.

Re: 2011 GC 20in wheels fit on 05 GC Limited?

Yeah, it ended up costing me a lot of money, $200 tow bill, broken side skirt, TPMS sensor, and a new set of wheels, 3 hours stuck on the side of the roa on the coldest night, couldn't run my jeep because my wheel wedged under the jeep and was sitting on my exhaust and I didn't want to have to replace the tire too. The whole ordeal cost me about $2000. Although I got some sweet running boards and wheels outta the deal haha

Re: 2011 GC 20in wheels fit on 05 GC Limited?

First,I like the understated factory-esqness of those rims, looks really good.

Second, i ran my 1.5" spacers all last winter, with MANY days of daily driving on rough roads in close to -40 degree weather, never had issues. I've now removed the lift and gone back to my "summer" set up with the srt springs and 20" Vipers, but i did examine each spacer and there is no signs of cracking or wear. They were a mid-priced ebay brand. ($120 plus shipping for all 4)

That's part of why I went with these wheels. To me they look like they were made for the WK. I went with the chrome due to all the chrome already on the Overland.

I'm not saying that it will happen, But the chance is there. That was the 3rd winter I was running the spacers when it failed.

Ditch the spacers or you could look like this.... or worse...

What bolt are you guys talking about cutting off? I don't have a WK yet so I can't go out and look at it, sorry.
