235 65r/17 vs 245 65r/17

Looking to buy a new set of tire for my 2006 Jeep WK Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7, 4WD/AWD, was wondering about 2 things, tire size and tire brand.
Both sizes (235 65R/17 and 245 65R/17) are listed as stock on tiretrack, but what would be the major differences between them?

I care primarily about gas mileage, comfortable ride and traction. If the gas mileage would be minimal but the traction greatly increased I'd probably go with the 245's. If the difference in height is increased that's fine, what about the speed?

Anyhow what would you pick, I do not do any off roading or lifting, I prefer a comfortable ride on paved roads..
I live in Montreal, Canada and it can be pretty wet/snowy from December until April..and lots of November rain.

Would you get plus sizes for the rear or all? Choices are from 17-22", but I do not want to change the stock wheels for now, am I stuck with the 17" choices than?
Concerning the brand I am leaning towards buying Firestone Destination A/T's or Michelin LTX A/T 2's.

Guys, what size should I get? Thx!

Re: 235 65r/17 vs 245 65r/17

my wk came with 245 and it looks too small so I would go with that. i think all the technical differences are minimal.

the first number is the tread across the wheel or tread width.

so 10mm is less than half an inch not a big deal.

the next numbers are the sidewall as a % of the first number.
so 65% of 235 ....or 245.....that your sidewall height in inches.

so just based on looks I would go with the 245

TRY THIS CALCULATOR it will do the math for you

but I would THINK if you were just after mileage the skinnier tire would be better.

Scrib99 is on a distinguished road
My Grand Cherokee came with 235/65 r17 and I upgraded to 245/65r17 set of michelins. I honestly did it for looks alone. The the ride is just as good and handling is better but that's probably due to the crap goodyears I had on before. My gas mileage did go down about 1 mpg but it's not a big deal to me.
