255/65/17 grab at2's are on!!!!

Just had 255/65/17 general grabber at2's put on today. Just from the ride home from the tire shop they have no more road noise than the stock GY fortera's. More stable when turning. Can't wait to try them out in the snow.

I'm still happy with mine and probably get them again.

Looks good! I have a little bit of life left on my Forteras but these are what I plan on upgrading to when the time comes. It's hard to find tires for my wheels other than the Forteras and maybe two others. I have the 18" stock wheels with 245/60/18.

Are you stock height or lifted? Doesn't look like it but do you have any wheel spacers on? I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with AT2's for my next set, but can't decide on what size. I've got the leveling spacers in the front, and 1.5" wheel spacers on, so I was thinking of trying to squeeze on 255/70's.

Re: 255/65/17 grab at2's are on!!!!

No lift stock height. No spacers. From what i can tell there are no rubbing issues either. These 255's are less than a half inch wider than the stock 245's. One thing I can tell you is the ride is night and day from the stock fortera's. It soaks up bumps better and handles much better. I cant wait to try them out in a nice lake effect snow storm this winter.lol

Hahah snow is always fun. I think with the leveling spacer in the front and wheel spacers, I should be able to fit 255/70's with no major rubbing. I think I might have to do the pinch weld mod but we'll see. Good luck with the tires. Thanks.

I have the same engine combo as you. Have you noticed any major effect on your mileage? I dont mind the small tires on my jeep (stock size) but they are so skinny!!

Re: 255/65/17 grab at2's are on!!!!

I never really checked my mileage. I sure it may drop a little. I only had 22k on the stock fortera's but in a couple heavy rain storms and heavy snow storms these tires almost killed me. lol IMO the fortera's are not very stable in heavy rain and snow. Its only less than half a inch in width from the stock 245's to the 255's. The tread is taller on the grab at'2 and the grabbers didnt come in stock 245/65/17's. I think the 255/65/17 look perfect with stock suspension. I picked these over the dest at's because of the treadwear. I had dest at's on my 99 4.7 they are a awesome tire but wore fast IMO.

Re: 255/65/17 grab at2's are on!!!!

So any issues with rubbing at full lock or over big bumps, etc? I really want to get 255's but I'm worried I'm going to rub or hit that bolt.

Re: 255/65/17 grab at2's are on!!!!

I have 265's and Had no rubbing at all without a lift. Once I spacers I had some slight rubbing at full lock. But not with the lift all is well. So 265/65/17 works just fine without a lift or bolt modification. I will state I have the Hankook Dynapro ATM's

Re: 255/65/17 grab at2's are on!!!!

Just in normal everyday driving I dont notice any rubbing issues. I have turned around full lock in a parking lot once and didnt notice anything. Ill test it out going over some bumps and report back.
