Re: Are 2" Spacer Lifts Dangerous?

nothing wrong with a 2" lift ran one on my past 2 vehicles. i have one on my current wk, the alignment barely needed touched after the lift was installed. now it does stress some components of the suspension, but most the time when youre lifting a vehicle those components already have been stressed toa point where a lifts only going to polish it off and warrant a replacement.

Rocky Road Outifitters 2.5" Lift Install

FWIW... I had a 3.5" Skyjacker lift on my ZJ and had no problems with it in the three years and 15,000-miles I put on the Jeep while it was on. The, I upgraded to a custom designed 5.5" lift. This required much more components to keep everything straight, large Drop Pitman, rear adj. track bar, custom TC drop kit etc. Then, when I designed and installed my 9" lift & 35s I really had to modify things, front, Over the knuckle steering assembly, upgraded steering box, etc. Even with all of these mods, I was still able to drive on the highway at 80-mph straight as an arrow with no popping, creaking etc.

Interesting story.... When I sold my ZJ in Dec '09 the guy who bought it flew into Baltimore, MD from Seattle, WA. I met him at the airport. He inspected the Jeep, got in and drove it back to Seattle. He wrote me when he returned home and stated the Jeep handled beautifully - until he got stuck in a snow bank and rolled the Jeep 45-miles from home. When the crane lifted the Jeep out, he said it started right up and he finished driving it home, crumpled passenger side and all.

My point, you will be fine with 2". Just watch the turns at first until you are use to it. Glad to hear you finally got it aligned!
