I m just looking to change my tires and I'm lost in the choice
What are the best tires for daily driving mainly highway and paved roads, a bit offroad and winter/snow conditions ?
I have today Federal Couragia S+U, they will still last a few miles but.. not for long
I'm thinking about the stock wrangler HP all weather (245 65 R17) or the Cooper discoverer AT3
The Cooper is OK, but for year around driving that can handle mild snow, rain, and a bit of off-road, it is hard to beat the Michelin M+S. Plus they last forever and are pretty quiet.
I have the Cooper AT3s and they do work very well. These are Great for off road and not too noisy on the highway. A set of 4 costs a few hundred less than the Michelin MS all season tires. They are an AT tire, but the ride and handling is still quite good, and much better than the GY Fortera triple treads I had and got rid of they were so harsh, bouncy, and poor in snow. Previous to these I had Dest AT, which were more harsh and worse in snow than AT3's. If you dont do much off roading, Cooper also has M S rated all seasons which are a good bargain. Also, note that Tire rack doesnt rate Coopers since they do not sell them.
I bought the Firestone Destination LE/2 All Season tires and they are great for summer and winter here in Canada, cost around $130-170 each and are one of the highest rated on tirerack.com for every season. I drive it on 10-20 cm of snow and never slip.
I spent way too much time researching tires the past couple months! I really wanted to buy American made. Its tough to get what I wanted do that. It was intersting to do some investigating into the tire industry. And sad. Our manufacturing base is such a shadow of what it once was. We all need to try and buy American made products. Ask at the parts store for made in the USA.
Went off the rails for a min.
Just got them mounted today. Balanced out with very little weight, look fine, seem to ride and respond nicely. They have a 75,000 mile rating and a H speed rating. All the reviews (there arent many, its a pretty new tire) were positive. Tread looks like it should be good all around tire, ride nice and be quiet. Time will tell.
Hi guys thank you all for your inputs I putted some hankook HP2 tires .
So far it ok , but I'll keep the advices for a second set with more off road capabilty
for a tire that is good year round and can go off road, I agree that the silent armors are very good for that. another great choice if you want a little more rugged of a tire, BF Goodrich all terrain KDW's are good. I have ran both generations of it before I got the jeep.
Im hoping when I order my General Tires G Max AS-03's that they will work year round. I feel they will better then the nitto 420's I ran, just a more aggressive pattern.
Should fit just fine. If you run the factory wheel, I would suggest the General Grabber AT2 or the Nitto Terra Grapplers. Those are the best looking tires in that size I have seen personally. I have not seen them on a WK, but on a Range Rover they looked great.
I had Cooper Discoverer AT/3's on my 02 Limited and loved them. Great tread pattern, quiet, smooth, excellent off road and in snow, no hydroplaning and I was getting great treadwear out of them up to the point that I traded for my 14 Overland.
One of the few remaining tires manufactured in the US and at a far better price than any other comparable tire on the market. It's a great all around tire in my opinion.
