BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A or Firestone Destination A/T

It is time to replace the tires on my 07 WK 5.7.

I am considering either the BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A or Firestone Destination A/T.

Any first hand experience on which tire is superior for on-road driving in all 4 seasons?

Re: BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A or Firestone Destination A/T

Lucky13 I have the Firestone's on my Jeep Wrangler. Mostly highway miles and trips to the beach. I really liked the look of them and aggressiveness of the treads. To my surprise they have held up very well and have performed better than I expected however they are extremely heavy and very noisy at low to mid speeds. I have 30" tires and the tread is pretty aggressive but on smaller sizes tire the tread seems to be less aggressive and geared more toward daily driving. I would buy them again if I had more motor to turn them. So far have been very reliable and have performed well in snow, mud and normal highway driving.

im going rugged terrains next tire, i like the look and they are pretty light in weight. plus their BFG highway all-seasons, so im sure they will wear like iron..

I had the BFGs on my old nissan xterra, put about 60k on them before they were toast, i also off-roaded them alot so that i'm sure contributed to the wear. Nice and quiet on road and great traction off road in just about everything aside from thick goopy mud.

Re: BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A or Firestone Destination A/T

i cant speak for either of the 2 tires, but I will just throw in my experience.. i was looking at both of the tires you were went i lifted my WK and was adding bigger more aggressive tires..

I ended up going with the new coopers. discoverer AT3's.. they ar a 31.6" tire int he size i got. they have an agressive tread style just like the rugged terrrains and destinations but are also just as quiet on the highway as my stock fortera's were. I drive 70 miles during the week highway and they perform great and completely silent and i also take it offroad probably every other weekend into the woods/mud/dirt/gravel.. and they handle it all perfectly and also have been holding up really well.. its only been about 6 months with them but they still look brand new.

Also got all 4 at3's in 31" for $625 mounted and balanced.. may be cheaper than the rugged terrains and the destinations... give em a look.
