Figures, lol when I order bilsteins for my rig, they are on backorder. They are saying they'll be shipped out by the 16th. I remember ordering headers for my old stang....they said 2 weeks.....ended up being almost 4 months. I may have to settle for the ole' monroes!
I order front and rear....the deal for just under $400. I think those where the 4600HD's. I found my driver's front strut leaking...enough to leave the inside of the rim wet. When I first saw it, I thought it was brake fluid....but a little investigating led me to the shock. It sounds blown when I hit bumps, and I get a slight vibration when I am driving. I will check my order again to see exactly what I have. I dont want to wait 2 or more weeks for these to come in..
They just started coming in over the last month from reading on the forums. I ordered mine June of 2013 and it took 3 weeks and from Aug 2013 for damn near a year they were on backorder. You shouldn't have to wait long now. Great mod!!
MY 2 cents on WK Bilsteins. Don't be fooled by the name; of course Bilstein makes excellent shocks, but the WK versions are frankly not a good choice. They are far too rough riding due to the very high gas pressure, overly bouncy (can you say head toss ?) and exhibit poor cornering and handling. I had them on for over a year, and couldn't wait to get rid of them. The Koni FSD's rock, no comparison !

Yup, FSD's are 3x the cost of WK Bilsteins, but are sooooo much better handling, and with a smoother, much more controlled and flat ride. They are the best for non-lowered WK's. I would probably go with OEM if it were up to a budget; you can buy OEM from Mopar online discounters for much less than the dealers sell them for.
What is the best place to buy Koni FSDs? I'm replacing my Bilstein 4600HD (wk bilsteins) because the front is leaking and I'm not happy with the ride. I was going to do 5100s but I don't have time to wait for the back order that they are always on and I don't do much off-roading any more an find myself wanting better on road manners and cornering.
Edit never mind I'm not spending $1000 on shocks and struts.
I'll try the 5100s of they are in stock. I'm not going back to oem or Monroe junk. Id rather wait for the back order.
What else do you guys recommend for tight handling good road manners? SRT bilstein a are recommended by Scott but are hard to find ad expensive.
My 5100's arrive tomorrow, and yes I had to wait for them too.
I had them on a Dodge Ram 1500 in the past and the improvement they made to the handling of that truck was remarkable. If I get half the improvement to the Jeep that I did with the pick up I'll be thrilled.
I have the 5100's set at 3/4 in front and 5100's in rear. Front/rear srt swaybars and Bwoody end links. Extremely pleased with the way in handles. Smooth or bumpy roads no problem. Ran for a year before I put Bwoody end links and much improved over stock links.
I'll look into those additions for the second phase of the upgrade, thanks for the input!
I too was thinking the 3/4 setting would be the way to go. Does it change the look of the stance very much? I wouldn't mind a bit of levelling to bring the nose up a touch.
My 5100's deliver today. I can't wait to see what they do to the stance. I don't mind a harsher ride, the Monroe LL added some stiffness to the back and some lift too. I got mine from carid, they shipped the day after I ordered them and $105 each.
Did you add any spacers to the rear, or does the 1.5 setting make it level? When I measured I thought it would put the nose slightly higher than the rear.
Either way they are a big improvement over the stock ride.
I found a set of Monroe Load Leveler shocks on Craigslist for $80 (his wife said they were too stiff) and those are in the rear. I think they were originally made for F150's, but someone discovered they fit on WK's also. They are essentially a coil over and the added spring rate took the rear up a bit, about an inch. With 1.5" lift up front from the Bilstein it's all leveled out.
